Former Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Con passed away at the age of 106.

On January 9, information from the Department for Protection and Health Care of Cadres said that after a period of illness, comrade Nguyen Con (born in 1916), former Secretary of the Party Central Committee, former Deputy Prime Minister, despite being treated wholeheartedly by the Party, the State, a group of professors and doctors, and his family's wholehearted care, due to old age, weakness, and serious illness, he passed away at 7:15 a.m. on January 9, 2022 at the 108 Central Military Hospital.

The visitation, memorial service and burial ceremony of comrade Nguyen Con will be announced later.

Comrade Nguyen Con was born in Thanh Lam, Thanh Chuong, Nghe An. In October 1937, Comrade Nguyen Con officially joined the Party.

Comrade Nguyen Con held the following positions: Chairman of the Thanh Chuong District Uprising Committee; member of the Central Region Party Committee, member of the Standing Committee of the Region V Party Committee, Secretary of the Central Southern Region Executive Committee; Deputy Inspector General, Deputy Minister of Architecture; Deputy Chairman of the State Planning Committee, Chairman of the State Planning Committee; Secretary of the Central Committee.Central Party, Deputy Prime Minister; Minister of Mechanics and Metallurgy; Head of the Central Economic Commission; Head of the Government's economic and cultural expert delegation in Cambodia.

Comrade Nguyen Con was awarded by the Party and State.Gold Star Medal2007;Ho Chi Minh Medal1996; 85-year Party membership badge 2021./
