This afternoon, September 11, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc received Brazilian Foreign Minister Aloysio Nunes Ferreira, who is on an official visit to Vietnam.

Welcoming Minister Ferreira's official visit to Vietnam, the Prime Minister said that this is an important visit, contributing to promoting multifaceted cooperation between the two countries.
Congratulating the Minister on his successful meeting with Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Vietnam Pham Binh Minh, the Prime Minister said that despite the geographical distance, the two countries have a traditional friendship and the Vietnamese people admire the country and people of Brazil.
Foreign Minister Ferreira thanked Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc for taking the time to meet him and said that he and the Brazilian people personally have special feelings for Vietnam, admiring Vietnam in its past struggle for national liberation and its current socio-economic achievements.
Emphasizing that this visit aims to promote cooperation with Vietnam, the Minister informed the Prime Minister about the successful talks with Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Pham Binh Minh. The two sides discussed the direction of bilateral cooperation in the coming time as well as multilateral issues of mutual concern. The two sides expressed their agreement on many issues at international forums such as the United Nations and the World Trade Organization (WTO).
The Minister expressed his impression of the two-way trade turnover which has continuously grown and reached 3 billion USD last year, and wished that the two countries would promote cooperation in many other areas such as science and technology, national security and defense, education and training, agriculture; and wished to export some of their strong products to Vietnam, including beef. Brazil is making strong reform efforts and wishes to attract investment from Vietnamese enterprises.
At the reception, the Minister sent a letter from the President of Brazil inviting Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc to pay an official visit to Brazil.
Expressing his gratitude to the President of Brazil for his official invitation, the Prime Minister suggested that the two sides promote the exchange of high-level delegations, as a basis for promoting cooperation in other fields.
Agreeing with the Minister on the impressive growth rate of two-way trade turnover in recent times, reaching 3 billion USD last year, the Prime Minister said that the two sides need to promote cooperation so that this figure can increase many times in the coming time. The Prime Minister emphasized the role of the Intergovernmental Committee of the two countries, discussing the directions of bilateral cooperation, especially in trade and investment, culture and other fields.
The Prime Minister assessed that Brazil is a large market with 200 million people, while Vietnam is a market of nearly 100 million people. This is potential and opportunity for businesses of the two countries to cooperate in investment and business. Vietnam hopes that Brazilian businesses will invest in Vietnam and proposes that the two sides cooperate, remove barriers, and create the most favorable conditions for businesses of the two countries to cooperate in investment and business./.
