Heartless man beats deaf-mute man to death for threatening to burn down his house
(Baonghean.vn) - Seeing Mr. Ng. cursing and threatening to burn down the house with a lighter, Lu Quy Hung (residing in Tuong Duong district, Nghe An) used a wooden stick to hit the victim in the vital parts, causing his death.
On the morning of February 26, Nghe An Provincial People's Court opened a first-instance criminal trial of Lu Quy Hung (born 1997), residing in Nga My commune, Tuong Duong district, for the crime of "Murder".
According to the investigation agency's documents, at around 10:00 a.m. on October 7, 2019, Lu Quy Hung was drying rice at his father-in-law's house when Kha Van Ng. (born in 1973, a relative of Hung) walked up, pointed, cursed and threatened to beat Hung.
Knowing that Mr. Ng. was a person who could not speak clearly, Hung kept quiet. Hung used his hand to signal Mr. Ng. to go somewhere else. This man did not go but picked up a rock and took out a lighter to light it, at the same time pointing to Hung's father-in-law's house.

Through Ng's actions, Hung understood that this person was threatening to burn down his house and shop, so he chased him away. At 11:00 a.m. the same day, thinking that his family had taken care of him and given him food and drink many times, but this person cursed and threatened to burn down his house and shop for no apparent reason, Hung was angry and took a wooden stick to beat Ng.
Seeing Mr. Ng. sitting on a stone bench in front of the grocery store, Hung stopped his car and hit Mr. Ng. on the head with a wooden stick. Although the victim was rushed to the emergency room, he died the following afternoon. The cause of Mr. Ng.'s death was determined to be a fractured skull and a brain hemorrhage due to trauma.
At the trial, the defendant admitted to the crime. The defendant said he beat Mr. Ng. out of anger because he cursed and threatened to burn down the house. "The defendant only beat and threatened, not intentionally killed," the defendant said.
Attending the trial, the victim’s family representative asked the court to reduce the defendant’s sentence. This person said that after the incident, the defendant’s family had already paid more than 70 million VND in compensation, so they did not ask for anything more.
For the crime of "Murder" Lu Quy Hung was sentenced to 12 years in prison.
