Delivery man takes his elderly mother with dementia to work every day
For the past 7 years, every day a Chinese man has carried his 92-year-old mother by bicycle and held her hand to deliver goods so she wouldn't get lost.
Cai Yujun, 52, is a courier in Chengdu, Sichuan Province. He has become a role model for filial piety in China after his story of taking his mother to work with him every day to look after her was widely shared on social media.

Mr. Cai's mother, Ms. Yang Suxiu, has been suffering from Alzheimer's disease for the past 7 years. Not feeling comfortable leaving her home alone, Mr. Cai decided to take her with him to work every day.
DTo do this, Mr. Cai had to modify the bike to ensure his mother's comfort. Mr. Cai installed a wooden board on the back of the electric bike. Cai also added two wooden boards to serve as footrests for Mrs. Yang and used a rope as a safety belt.
"My mother has devoted her whole life to the family. Taking care of her is now my responsibility, no matter how difficult it is,"CGTNquoted Mr. Cai shared.

Twenty years ago, Cai and his family moved to Chengdu to make a living. He and his wife were hired as delivery men for a local computer store, while Ms. Yang stayed home alone.
"At that time, my mother was still very lucid, she often stayed at home or went out for a walk," Cai recalled.
But everything changed when Ms. Yang showed signs of cognitive impairment and dementia. Soon, Ms. Yang lost the ability to care for herself.
This made Cai worried and decided to take his mother along. He often held his mother's hand while delivering goods so that she wouldn't get lost. Although he had prepared for many situations, Cai couldn't avoid accidents, especially when delivering to offices.

"When we go to office buildings, security guards often stop my mother. I ask them if they can take care of my mother, asking them to be responsible for any accidents that happen to her if I leave her behind?", Cai said.
Finally, the security guards let Cai take his mother in.
Cai's colleagues supported his filial act. They often helped Mr. Cai by taking care of Ms. Yang whenever he could not bring his mother along.
