On October 24, Raphael left the hotel to continue his trip to My Tho City, Tien Giang. At 5:00 p.m. the same day, he returned to the hotel and reported to Ben Thanh Ward Police.

The Criminal Police Team of District 1 Police and Ben Thanh Ward Police urgently started investigating and verifying. After a day of investigation and collecting evidence, on October 25, the Criminal Police Team summoned Nguyen Anh Phong (born in 1987, from Ben Tre) to the headquarters for clarification.

At the District 1 Police Department, Nguyen Anh Phong confessed: Phong was a probationary room cleaner at The One Premium Hotel since October 19. On the morning of October 23, assigned by Ms. Nguyen Thi Thuy Duong (hotel manager) to clean the guest rooms at branch number 29 Thu Khoa Huan, Ben Thanh ward, Phong used the spare key for the room cleaner to open the room where Mr. Aurellien Raphael was staying to clean.

Seeing the backpack in the corner of the room, Phong thought it contained many valuables, so he opened the backpack, rummaged through it, took 2,000 Euros from the envelope inside, put it in his pocket, hid it, and quickly left the room and the hotel.

After stealing, Phong took the money to three gold shops in District 4, District 7 and Thu Duc City to exchange for more than 54 million VND and spent it all. Phong did not clarify the origin of the foreign currency, so the gold shop owners conducted the transaction as usual. After learning about the incident, the gold shop owners voluntarily handed over the foreign currency to the police for investigation.

The Investigation Police Agency of District 1 Police has issued a decision to prosecute the case, prosecute the accused and execute an order to temporarily detain Nguyen Anh Phong to handle the act of "Theft of property".

A representative of District 1 Police said that in the coming time, the unit will resolutely crack down on all types of crimes in the city center, especially crimes against property, to build an image of Ho Chi Minh City as a safe and hospitable city in the eyes of domestic and international tourists.
