Mr. Nguyen Van Hung's family in village 10 is looking for ways to prevent disease for more than 1 sao of tomatoes that are ready to be harvested. Mr. Hung said that on August 15, his family planted 4 sao of tomatoes. After about 1 month, the entire area grew well, but when the plants grew nearly 30cm high, the whole plant withered. After about 1 week, the area withered more and more, so his family bought medicine to spray to prevent disease, but the effect was not high.
For areas that cannot be repaired, the family buys seeds to replant. From 4 sao of tomatoes, now there is only more than 1 sao left, the rest is newly planted area. "If there is no damage, the tomatoes are entering the harvest season, while currently, the price of tomatoes is increasing so all households are heartbroken, now we have to focus on taking care of the plants so that they can grow and be harvested after Tet," said Mr. Hung.
This winter-spring crop, the entire Quynh Thanh commune planted about 20 hectares of vegetables, of which about 10 hectares of tomatoes are concentrated in villages 8, 10, 12 and 12. Like previous years, this is the harvest season, giving people an income of tens of millions of VND/sao. However, through research here, the area of tomato plants that are currently yielding fruit is only about 2-3 hectares. The reason is that most of the tomato plants in the growing stage appear to be dry, then wither, causing damage to about 7 hectares. The damaged areas have been replanted with seeds by the people. According to the people, to invest in 1 hectare of tomatoes, the cost is about 50 million VND.

Mr. Tran Van Trung - Vice Chairman of Quynh Thanh Commune People's Committee said that the locality is a purely agricultural commune, so the development of agricultural production is always of interest. This year, people are excited to plant tomatoes hoping for a good harvest like last year, however, many factors have affected and damaged many tomato areas. For the harvested tomato areas, there are still signs of withering plants, the locality has directed agricultural officers and cooperatives to grasp the situation and take preventive measures for the plants.
