New details in the explosion that killed one person in Quynh Luu

Investigation into the cause of the explosion that left one person with both arms severed and dead

(Baonghean.vn) - A loud explosion came from a house reserved for clam farmers. People ran to find Chu Van Giap with both arms severed, and many items in the house were destroyed and damaged.

On the afternoon of December 24, Nghe An Provincial Police were present at the scene of the explosion in Tan Xuan village, Quynh Thuan commune (Quynh Luu) to investigate the cause of the incident.

Upon inspection, inside the kitchen, where the explosion that killed Mr. Chu Van Giap occurred, there were many objects believed to be explosives. These objects were placed more than 2 meters above the ground, with a red plastic knob on top used to pour the explosives in.

According to a police officer of Quynh Thuan commune, after the explosion occurred, the police force entered the house and discovered 2 plastic boxes containing powdery substances (suspected to be explosives). However, all samples are currently being collected by the authorities to investigate and clarify the cause of the explosion.

Mr. Ho Huy Vinh, who discovered the explosion, said: “The whole family was sitting down to eat when they heard a loud explosion next door. Then I ran over and found the victim with both arms severed and his whole body severely injured. At that time, Mr. Giap was lying unconscious on the spot, his wife was calling for people to come and rescue him. Inside the kitchen, the gas tank was still intact, but all the utensils were turned into rubble.”

Mr. Pham Van Hung, a resident, recounted: "My house is about 200m from the victim's house, but I still heard a loud explosion. When I ran over, I saw people carrying the victim out with injuries all over him."

As reported, at 7:45 a.m. on December 24, many households living in Tan Xuan village, Quynh Thuan commune suddenly heard a loud explosion coming from Mr. Hoang Ngoc Hoang's house, then smoke billowed into the sky.

Discovering the incident, people rushed to the scene and found Mr. Chu Van Giap (born in 1984), from Hamlet 5, Quynh Dien Commune, lying unconscious in the kitchen with very serious injuries, including two severed arms. Immediately afterwards, people quickly took the victim to the Quynh Luu District General Hospital for emergency treatment, however, due to the severity of the injuries, the victim died.

At the scene, the kitchen exploded, the corrugated iron roof was shattered, and the furniture was turned into rubble. Witnesses said that at the time of the explosion, the victim's wife and two children were fortunately in the house above, so they were able to avoid more serious consequences.

It is known that Mr. Giap from Quynh Dien commune came to Quynh Thuan to stay at Mr. Hoang's house to look after the clam farm at the tidal flat, about 200m from the house.
