On February 10, information from Vinh Long Provincial Police said that the police are investigating and clarifying a group of people who used weapons to attack a bus driver.
The incident occurred at around 5:00 p.m. on February 9. At that time, the driver of a 52-seat passenger van with license plate 51B - 1404 drove straight into the headquarters of the Fire Prevention and Rescue Police Department of Vinh Long Province Police to ask for help because a group of strangers had smashed the vehicle and attacked him with knives.

Immediately after that, the incident was reported to Long Ho District Police, Vinh Long Provincial Police Department coordinated to clarify. At the police station, the driver gave his name as Dat (residing in Ho Chi Minh City). According to Dat, on February 9, he drove the above-mentioned passenger car carrying a group of tourists from Ho Chi Minh City to visit Ben Tre and then moved to Can Tho City.
There were more than 30 foreign passengers and children on the bus at the time, including a tour guide. While the bus was traveling on National Highway 1A (through Cai Be District, Tien Giang Province), it nearly collided with a car with a Bac Lieu license plate traveling in the same direction. Driver Dat and the group of people on the bus had a conflict and argued.
After that, the group of people in the car used weapons to smash the front windshield of the bus. Seeing the group being aggressive, Mr. Dat drove the bus away. However, they mobilized more accomplices on motorbikes, holding knives in their hands, to chase and follow them for dozens of kilometers.
Fearing the lives of passengers, Mr. Dat turned his car into the Fire Prevention and Rescue Police Department of Vinh Long Province Police to ask for help.
Authorities dispatched vehicles to assist all passengers to continue their journey.
