Education policies effective from January 2021
In January 2021, three new education policies came into effect. Along with that, the new regulations on retirement age were also implemented, attracting the attention of workers in general and teachers in particular.
New regulations on retirement age
Decree 135/2020/ND-CP issued on November 18, 2020 by the Government regulating retirement age takes effect from January 1, 2021.
Accordingly,retirement ageof employees under normal working conditions according to Clause 2, Article 169 of the Labor Code is specifically regulated as follows:
From January 1, 2021, the retirement age of employees in normal working conditions is 60 years and 3 months for male employees and 55 years and 4 months for female employees; then, it increases by 3 months each year for male employees until reaching 62 years old in 2028 and by 4 months each year for female employees until reaching 60 years old in 2035.
Regulations on age of candidates for admission
This regulation takes effect from January 23, 2021. This is one of the general standards for admission under the nomination system, stipulated in Article 6 of Decree 141/2020/ND-CP.

Specifically, the general standards for admission according toelection systemincluding:
Permanent residence for 5 consecutive years or more up to the year of enrollment in an area with especially difficult socio-economic conditions; having biological parents or adoptive parents (or having one of the two parties, biological father or mother, adoptive father or adoptive mother), or direct caregiver living in this area;
(Compared to the current Article 6 of Decree 134/2006/ND-CP, the case of "having biological parents or adoptive parents (or having one of the two parties being biological father or biological mother, adoptive father or adoptive mother), the person directly raising the child lives in this area").
Meet the preliminary selection standards for industries and occupations that require preliminary selection;
Not over 22 years old by the year of admission, in good health according to current regulations.
(Currently, in Clause 3, Article 6 of Decree 134/2006/ND-CP, it is stipulated that the age must not be over 25 years old as of the year of enrollment).
In addition to these general standards, candidates for admission to colleges or universities must also meet specific standards as prescribed.

Standards for teachers of National Defense and Security Education
This is one of the contents in Circular 46/2020/TT-BGDDT on Subject Program.National defense and security education(GDQP&AN) at high school level, effective from January 11, 2021 and replacing Circular 02/2017/TT-BGDDT dated January 13, 2017.
According to the National Defense and Security Education Program at high school level, National Defense and Security Education teachers are uniformly regulated by the Law.Education, Law on National Defense and Security Education, Government Decree and Circular of the Ministry of Education and Training;
100% of teachers have been trained to meet or exceed standards; are classified as meeting or above standards according to the Professional Standards for Teachers of General Education Institutions; teachers are guaranteed rights according to the provisions of the Charter of High Schools and the law; teachers are trained and coached in teaching according to the General Education Program and specific subjects.
Regarding the duration of the National Defense and Security Education program at the high school level: The duration of the program in each grade: The total duration for the entire subject is 105 periods, including: Grade 10: 35 periods, Grade 11: 35 periods, Grade 12: 35 periods. Based on the school year program, educational institutions develop teaching plans to ensure sufficient time.
Time spent on educational content: The amount of knowledge spent on each educational content is determined by the author.textbookand teachers proactively arrange based on the requirements of each class and teaching practice.
Training on disaster prevention knowledge for teachers
Decision 3162/QD-BGDDT on the Ministry of Education and Training's Disaster Prevention and Control Plan for the 2021-2025 period, effective from January 1, 2021 and replacing Decision 4068/QD-BGDDT dated September 8, 2011.
Accordingly, the regulations on training and coaching on disaster prevention and control for education managers, teachers and workers are as follows:
Determine content, methods, compile training materials suitable for each subject in the Education sector.

Organize regular and periodic training courses for managers and key teachers at the central and local levels on methods of integrating and integrating knowledge of natural disaster prevention and control into subjects suitable for the curriculum and extracurricular activities.
Guidelines for integrating disaster prevention and control content into related activities of the entire education sector.
Continue to implement extensive training on the Safe School Framework for educational and training facilities.
