Distorted arguments about the human rights situation in Vietnam

(Baonghean.vn) - Recently, some foreign organizations with ill will and hostile thoughts towards Vietnam continue to take advantage of human rights issues to fabricate, distort, baselessly exaggerate the human rights situation in Vietnam, notably the US-based Human Rights Watch (HRW) and Freedom House.

ridiculous distortion and fabrication

HRW's 2021 "World Report on Human Rights" has nothing new, it is still baseless accusations about the so-called "Vietnam's increased repression of those advocating for basic civil and political rights"; or "Vietnam fears democracy, independent media and freedoms", "Increased repression", "severe degradation", "cruelty"....

In this report, HRW continues to cover up and condone thesethose who abuse freedom of speech, press, using social networks to violate national security, social order, promote propaganda against the country and the achievements of innovation of the entire Vietnamese people, including names such as: Pham Chi Dung, Nguyen Tuong Thuy, Le Huu Minh Tuan - self-proclaimed journalists of the "Independent Journalists Association of Vietnam"; or Pham Thi Doan Trang, self-proclaimed "a famous writer-blogger"... And on the VOA Vietnamese page (of the US) published an article titled "HRW ranks Vietnam among the governments that take advantage of Covid-19 to violate human rights".

Accordingly, the Human Rights Watch organization HRW has released its annual report on the world's human rights situation, stating that "Vietnam is among at least 83 governments in the world that have used the Covid-19 pandemic to justify violations of people's rights to freedom of speech and peaceful assembly"???.

Then, on March 5, 2021, the human rights organization Freedom House released a scorecard of freedom index of countries in the world. Vietnam was scored 19/100 points, the second-to-last country in Southeast Asia, just above Laos (13/100 points).

In particular, a notable index such as Internet freedom - Vietnam was only scored 22/100 points, standing at a very low position, lower than countries in the region such as Myanmar, Thailand, Cambodia, Philippines... This organizationdistorting VietnamThere is no Internet freedom, Vietnamese people are almost banned from accessing social networks, have no right to vote, and no religious freedom. This organization has baselessly asserted that “Vietnamese authorities have harshly suppressed and strictly prohibited Vietnamese people from commenting, using social networks or international internet platforms”???.

Practice proves all conspiracies are meaningless.

Human rights are human rights, first of all the right to life, the right to health care, the right to protection… More than anyone else, the Vietnamese people are the ones who feel the human rights values that the Party and State bring.

For more than a year, the Covid-19 pandemic has plunged the world into a serious crisis. But unlike some other "free" countries that have let the epidemic spread uncontrollably, under the leadership of the Party and the resolute management of the Vietnamese Government, with the spirit of "fighting the epidemic like fighting the enemy", the Vietnamese people have united with the Party, the Government, all levels and sectors to "fight" bravely and resiliently to defeat this pandemic. "Leaving no one behind" - this spirit has been and will continue to be the motto for all levels and sectors to continue to implement strong and comprehensive measures to protect people's lives; Social security and welfare packages were quickly decided and implemented in a practical and effective manner to promptly help and support the most disadvantaged people during the epidemic - that demonstrates the good nature of our regime, and at the same time is a strong proof, refuting all distortions and accusations of human rights monitoring organizations against Vietnam.

It is worth mentioning that over the past many years, Vietnam's position has been increasingly enhanced in the international arena, with many positions and responsibilities held, many practical and effective actions not only for the country itself but also having a certain influence on the region and the world.

Especially in the past year 2020,Vietnam achieved positive growthAt 2.91%, it is considered by the world to be one of the 16 most successful emerging economies in the world. If Vietnam violates human rights, does not listen to the people, does not care for the people's interests, does not have the solidarity and consensus of the people, can it do this?

Even in Nghe An province, in 2020, in the face of the complicated epidemic situation, the Provincial Party Committee and the Provincial People's Committee have resolutely directed the sectors and localities to take timely, drastic, responsible and effective action. With the efforts of the entire political system and all classes of people, Nghe An has focused on implementing the "dual goal": both resolutely preventing and fighting the epidemic and focusing on recovering and developing the socio-economy and achieving important results. Up to now, the province has not recorded any cases of Covid-19 infection.

By the end of 2020, the growth rate of the province's gross domestic product reached 4.45%; the State budget revenue was estimated at 17,363 billion VND. The new rural construction program achieved many important results. By the end of 2020, 281/411 communes had met the standards, an increase of 36 communes compared to 2019, and 6 district-level units had completed the task of building and meeting new rural standards.

Social security work has received special attention from Party committees, authorities and organizations at all levels. After 5 years of implementing the Resolution of the 18th Provincial Party Congress and the National Target Program on Sustainable Poverty Reduction for the 2016-2020 period, the poverty rate in the province has decreased from 12.1% to about 3.0%.

In addition, the promotion of the movement "Nghe An joins hands for the poor - No one is left behind" has mobilized the strength of the entire political system, all levels, sectors, mass organizations, social organizations, and participating enterprises, mobilizing a total capital source to implement the poverty reduction program in 5 years of more than 17,661 billion VND...

Human Rights Watch Unmasks Its False Face

According to statistics from the Ministry of Information and Communications, in 2020, Vietnam had more than 68 million people using the internet (accounting for 70% of the population, Vietnam is one of the top 20 countries with the highest number of internet users in the world) for the purpose of livelihood, learning, direct entertainment, expressing and exercising their human rights, including civil and political rights such as contributing opinions to draft policy documents, laws, and Party Congress documents.

Therefore, there is no such thing as Vietnam banning people from using the internet, commenting and participating in social networks, violating human rights or "arresting dissidents" as baseless accusations by human rights monitoring organizations.

Those results have demonstrated the great trust of the People in the leadership of the Party, the management and administration of the State - a regime of the People, by the People, for the People, where human health and life have always been placed in the highest position. The names such as Pham Chi Dung, Nguyen Tuong Thuy, Le Huu Minh Tuan, Pham Doan Trang... that HRW mentioned in the report as "victims" are actually violators of Vietnamese law and should be arrested and tried in accordance with the provisions of the law. The so-called "activists", "dissident voices", "dissidents"... are just concepts that HRW as well as organizations with ill will, even hostile to Vietnam, use to deceive others.

Once again, I would like to firmly affirm that the accusations about the human rights situation by HRW, Freedom House, VOA... with the intention of fabricating and exaggerating the human rights situation in Vietnam are just ridiculous and baseless distortions that do not truly reflect the human rights situation and the tireless efforts for human rights in Vietnam.

Therefore, the more they use distorted and unreasonable words year after year in their reports and accusations, the more it is like human rights monitoring organizations are exposing their own hypocrisy, distorting and slandering Vietnam - a sovereign nation whose people are guaranteed legitimate and legal rights, in accordance with international law in general and the International Convention on Human Rights in particular.
