Complicated outbreaks in Nghe An

As of February 12, Nghe An has recorded a total of nearly 29,000 Covid-19 infections, most of which were detected within the past month. Currently, the average number of F0 cases recorded each day has exceeded 2,000. However, experts say that the number of people infected with Covid-19 in the community is still very large. Due to the lack of widespread testing and the majority of cases being asymptomatic or having mild symptoms, they have not been detected.

For example, on February 11, the entire province only conducted rapid tests on more than 10,000 people, but detected more than 2,100 cases of Covid-19 infection. Thus, on average, for every less than 5 people tested, one person was found to be infected with Covid-19.

In Vinh City, from January 29 to now, more than 1,700 Covid-19 infections have been recorded, evenly distributed in 25 communes and wards. There are no prominent outbreaks but they are evenly distributed in the community (such as Vinh Tan Ward 137, Hung Dung Ward 97, Truong Thi Ward 81, Hung Binh Ward 75, Ben Thuy Ward 68).

In Yen Thanh district, this outbreak has recorded more than 1,800 F0s. The most complicated outbreak in this district is the outbreak in Thinh Thanh commune. Accordingly, on the 28th of the Lunar New Year, a kindergarten employee was found to be infected with Covid-19 when tested. On the same day, when testing related people such as students, teachers, and parents, the health agency discovered 100 more F0s. Yen Thanh district then had to requisition the kindergarten to serve as a facility to receive and treat F0s with a scale of more than 100 beds. However, a few days later, when continuing to test other related people, this outbreak had 100 more F0s. To date, Thinh Thanh commune has recorded more than 240 cases of Covid-19 infection in this outbreak. This outbreak is considered super infectious, with a rapid spread rate.

In Nam Dan district, Mr. Ho Son - Director of the District Health Center said that from the 28th of the Lunar New Year to now, the whole district has recorded more than 1,000 cases of Covid-19, the most complicated of which is the outbreak in Thuong Tan Loc commune. This outbreak began to be recorded on February 4 (the 4th day of the Lunar New Year), when a kindergarten teacher had symptoms and went to the district health center for testing. The results later showed that she was infected with Covid-19. She is also a choir member of a parish in the area, so she has a busy contact schedule. To date, after just over a week, the number of cases in this commune has exceeded 400.

In Nghi Loc district, this Lunar New Year period has also recorded nearly 1,500 Covid-19 infections. Complicated outbreaks include the outbreak in Nghi Dien commune, which originated from one family but has so far recorded more than 120 related F0s; the outbreak in Nghi Phuong commune with more than 90 cases and the Nghi Thach outbreak with 65 cases; Nghi Quang with more than 80 cases...

In Thanh Chuong, more than 1,400 cases of Covid-19 have been recorded so far. In the days after the Tet holiday, the district detected an average of about 100 F0 cases per day. Of which, there are two clusters of cases of concern at Thanh Khe Parish and Thanh Ngoc Parish.... Recently, another cluster of cases appeared in Thanh Giang Parish, which is considered very complicated.

In Quynh Luu district, a total of more than 2,800 Covid-19 infections have been recorded so far, but more than 2,100 cases have been recorded since the beginning of the year. The most complicated outbreak in the district is in Quynh Doi commune. This outbreak has only appeared for a few days, but so far 145 people have tested positive. In recent days, the number of F0s in Quynh Luu district has shown signs of increasing. On February 11, the number of cases set a record of more than 200 cases in one day. However, on the morning of February 12 alone, the district detected 243 people infected with Covid-19.

In addition to these complicated outbreaks, community cases have appeared sporadically with unknown sources of infection in Dien Chau, Do Luong, Hung Nguyen, Nghia Dan districts, Hoang Mai town...

In the context of the complicated epidemic, CDC Nghe An recommends strengthening screening and detecting high-risk subjects in the community, especially symptomatic cases, to promptly separate F0 from the community. Mobilize people returning from epidemic areas across the country to make medical declarations.

At the same time, we must continue to promote the role of the community COVID team.with new roles and mottos“go to every alley, knock on every door, check every subject” to find subjects who have not been vaccinated or have not been fully vaccinated to mobilize them to participate in full vaccination; Strengthen management and rectify home quarantine activities. Nghe An CDC also requested the Steering Committees of districts, cities, towns and wards and communes not to be negligent in epidemic prevention work.

For localities with production facilities located in the area, it is necessary to closely monitor and inspect the epidemic prevention plans of those factories and production facilities. Continuously review and test frequently to separate F0, if any, from the factory workshop, to avoid spreading to the community.
