2024,Health sectorNghe An has advised the Provincial Party Standing Committee to issue 1 Directive; advised the Provincial People's Council to issue 5 Resolutions; advised the Provincial People's Committee to pass 2 Projects and 1 important Decision to lead, direct and manage the implementation of medical tasks in a timely and effective manner, such as: Directive to strengthen the leadership and direction of Party committees and authorities at all levels in State management of non-public medical and pharmaceutical practice; Resolution on regulating prices of medical examination and treatment services not covered by the health insurance fund in State medical examination and treatment facilities in Nghe An province; Project on developing human resources for Nghe An health care to 2030, with a vision to 2035; Smart Healthcare Project in Nghe An province for the period 2024-2030...

BranchMedicalbasically completed, achieved and exceeded the 2024 plan targets; Specifically: Completed, achieved and exceeded 5/5 targets of the Resolution of the 19th Nghe An Provincial Party Congress, term 2020-2025; 6/6 targets assigned by the Provincial People's Council.
Disease prevention and control work has been focused and promoted. In 2024, the Provincial Center for Disease Control advised on the issuance of policies to support health insurance premiums and co-payments for HIV/AIDS-infected people; invested in equipment systems to implement advanced techniques; proactively, focused on, and promoted the prevention and control of infectious diseases to prevent the spread of epidemics, and the number of cases of infectious diseases has mostly decreased compared to the previous year. Nghe An has eliminated malaria, with no cases of internal malaria in the province in the past 3 years.

The health sector has also made many breakthroughs in surgery, treatment, and improving the quality of medical examination and treatment to serve the people. Nghe An Oncology Hospital has been assigned by the Ministry of Health as the final line of technical expertise in medical examination and treatment in the North Central region. Nghe An General Hospital has been recognized by the Ministry of Health as qualified to perform liver transplant techniques from living donors and brain-dead people; successfully performed the second brain-dead donor organ retrieval; deployed many specialized high-level techniques, especially those of the Central level...
Along with that, grassroots healthcare work has been strengthened by promoting the management of the health of the entire population; periodic health check-ups for the people; health care for the elderly, women, children, workers... Some new, specialized techniques have been successfully deployed at the district level. Advanced facilities and equipment have been invested in, ensuring examination, emergency and treatment at the unit.

The health sector has continued to strongly reform administration: implementing public announcement of administrative procedures under the State management of the Department of Health; implementing the reduction of working days for 34/38 administrative procedures, with a total reduction of 43 days... Along with that, effectively applying information technology in health administration and management. The whole province currently has 12 hospitals and medical centers implementing electronic medical records. The rate of non-cash payment at hospitals in the whole sector reached 48.38%.
Also in the past year, the sector achieved outstanding achievements in scientific research. There were 3 provincial-level topics approved and implemented; 7 topics completed and accepted; 882 grassroots-level topics and initiatives were applied and accepted, contributing to improving the quality of health care and protection for people in the province. The sector organized many activitiesohconferences and scientific seminars to share, exchange and update new knowledge and treatment methods, especially the Conference on Intensive Medical Development Orientation with more than 500 delegates and experts from home and abroad attending.

Foreign affairs, signing cooperation agreements between health departments of neighboring provinces and cities in the direction of linkage to continuously improve the quality of health care for people continues to be focused on by the industry, such as visiting and working with the Health Department of Xieng Khouang province, Lao People's Democratic Republic; organizing a conference to share experiences and signing a memorandum of understanding on cooperation and development in the health sector with the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health; learning from experiences at the Health Departments of Phu Tho, Thanh Hoa, Thua Thien Hue provinces, Hue Central Hospital, Hue University of Medicine and Pharmacy.
The Department of Health and the Provincial Social Insurance have reviewed 1 year of implementing the regulations on coordination in implementing health insurance policies and laws in the province for the period 2023-2025. The Department of Health and the Provincial Border Guard Command have reviewed the regulations on coordination in combining military and civilian medical work on borders and islands.

In 2025, Nghe An Health Sector also successfully organized many competitions, launching ceremonies, and rallies at the provincial level, such as the "Excellent Nurse, Midwife, Technician" Competition; Launching Ceremony of "Month of Action for Food Safety 2024"; Rally in response to "World No Tobacco Day May 31 and National No Tobacco Week May 25-31, 2024"; Launching Ceremony of "National Action Month on Population and Celebration of Vietnam Population Day". In particular, the Department of Health coordinated with the Nghe An Journalists Association to launch a journalism contest on the health sector with the theme "Good examples of medical ethics - For people's health".
The achievements of Nghe An Health sector have made an important contribution to the work of caring for and protecting the health of people in the area, some neighboring provinces in the North Central region and the neighboring provinces of Laos bordering Nghe An.
In recognition of the achievements, in 2024, 4 doctors in Nghe An province were awarded the title "People's Doctor" by the President.
