Commonly misused car safety features

The safety system in cars plays a very important role, but many drivers still do not take full advantage of its functions or use it incorrectly.

Today, cars are equipped with a wide range of safety systems. However, for various reasons, safety systems are misused.

Improper seat belt use

Seat belts are indispensable in every car, helping to prevent the inertia of the occupants from colliding with the front, minimizing injuries. However, to be effective, car seat belts must be worn correctly.

Many people think that if they do not wear a seat belt, the airbag system will protect them. In fact, if they do not wear a seat belt properly, according to regulations, the airbag system will not automatically deploy to protect them. Therefore, users need to wear a seat belt according to the manufacturer's instructions.

Road traffic laws in our country stipulate that seat belts are mandatory for all seating positions in cars.

Turn off the car's safety warning system

The car safety warning system includes many different warning devices. Among them, blind spot warning and collision warning are often turned off by users due to traffic conditions that are often congested, or motorbikes moving through corners that are difficult to observe.

It is not advisable to completely turn off the safety warning system as it helps a lot in situations where visibility is difficult while driving.

Nowadays, some car manufacturers have improved this sensor system by allowing it to be adjusted to suit traffic conditions. Therefore, instead of turning off the warning system completely, car owners can choose to install the system on the mirror or display reminders on the screen.

Misunderstanding tire pressure sensor messages

Tire pressure sensors are responsible for controlling the pressure inside the tire. Tires that are too soft or too tight can be dangerous while driving. Tire pressure sensors help control the air pressure inside the tire at the appropriate level. If there is an abnormality, the sensor will warn the vehicle owner, limiting the risk of accidents.

Many car owners wonder why even though they inflate their tires, the car still displays a tire pressure check message. In reality, the car must have traveled a distance before the tire pressure is re-measured. Only then will the warning on the dashboard disappear.

If you drive a short distance after inflating but the warning continues to be sent to the user, this is a sign that the tire pressure sensor is faulty.

Speeding warning system

Many cars today are equipped with a speeding warning system. Information about the maximum speed allowed on the road will be updated on the navigation system map. When the navigation system determines that the car is going over the speed limit, the system will sound a warning sound through the car's speakers.

However, in reality, GPS positioning on car systems is often inaccurate, information processing speed is slow. This causes a speed difference of 5 - 10km/h, causing drivers to be fined or causing danger.

Therefore, to ensure the vehicle always moves at the correct speed, the driver should look at the central clock combined with speed limit signs on the road.

Some high-end cars today are equipped with road sign recognition systems. Thanks to that, when combined with a speedometer, the car can control the movement at a level appropriate to each road section according to regulations.
