Efforts of the trade union in resolving the strike at Viet Glory Company Limited
(Baonghean.vn) - Taking place over the past 5 days, the strike at Viet Glory Company Limited has always had the direct participation of officials from the Dien Chau District Labor Federation and the direction and orientation of officials from the Provincial Labor Federation. The efforts of the trade union have had a strong impact on the policies and regimes that the company offers to its employees.
Overview of the strike
Viet Glory Company Limited was established on November 19, 2019, located in Dien Truong Commune, Dien Chau District, Nghe An Province. It currently has over 5,000 workers, and its manufacturing industry is leather shoes. The company is in the process of constructing phase 2, which will attract about 4,000 more workers upon completion. The grassroots trade union was established in March 2021.

On the morning of February 7, 2022 (January 7, Nham Dan year), the company organized for workers to go to work on the first day of the new year and quickly test for Covid-19 with the purpose of screening F0 to prepare for mass work on February 8. After the lunch break, when it was time to work in the afternoon shift, all workers did not go to work but gathered outside to stop working collectively to demand their rights.
From February 8-10, 2022, after discussing and discussing 11 contents of workers' petitions, company leaders and workers stillhave not found common groundAll workers did not agree with the company's solution and continued to ask the company to increase wages and add seniority allowances before returning to work.
Union efforts
Immediately after receiving the information, the Dien Chau District Labor Federation directed specialized departments to directly collect and grasp the situation directly from workers; synthesize and classify workers' opinions, coordinate with the district's Department of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs to inspect and review a number of related policies and regimes that workers proposed to determine right and wrong, and then request the company to notify all workers.

On February 8, the District Labor Federation requested the companyNotice of response to petitionsent to all workers. In which, the Labor Union has propagated, persuaded, mobilized and requested the company to resolve some legitimate recommendations for workers, such as: increasing gasoline allowance, studying legal regulations to supplement heavy toxic allowance for workers, increasing meal allowance, adjusting and learning from experience about the attitude of managers, fixing errors in the timekeeping machine... However, workers did not agree with 2 contents: increasing basic salary and adding seniority allowance. They said that surrounding companies have increased salary but Viet Glory Company Limited has not increased, which is unreasonable. And all companies have seniority allowance, why doesn't this company have it? Some workers who have worked for a long time at the company are disadvantaged in terms of rights...
Grasping the 2 recommendations that the workers did not agree with, the District Labor Federation on one hand propagated to the enterprise to understand that the workers' recommendations were completely legitimate, but on the other hand explained to them that they needed to share with the enterprise that after 2 years of operation, it had been 2 years facing the very difficult COVID-19 pandemic. The District Labor Federation continued to work to persuade the company's leadership to consider giving a satisfactory and definitive answer to the workers to ensure the harmony of interests of both sides.

In addition to the regular direction and close attention to the grassroots of the District Labor Federation, from February 10-11, the Provincial Labor Federation sent a working delegation led by Ms. Hoang Thi Thu Huong - Head of the Department of Legal Policy & Labor Relations to directly participate in the company to resolve the problem. The delegation met with workers, listened to more recommendations, concerns, thoughts and aspirations of workers and laborers, and directly worked with the company's leadership and the company's trade union.
At the working session on the morning of February 11, Ms. Hoang Thi Thu Huong frankly discussed the recommendations and proposals of the employees, provided advice on dialogue skills with the labor collective; and guided the employer on how to resolve the remaining issues between the two parties, especially the issue of basic salary andseniority allowancefor workers, on the basis of reference research, research on regional minimum wages of enterprises in Dien Chau and the whole province to make reasonable decisions, meeting the needs of attracting labor of enterprises in the context of labor competition. In addition, he requested enterprises to seriously implement the registration of labor regulations, build a salary scale system in accordance with labor law regulations.

The company has seriously accepted the opinions of the working group and committed to adding to the notice to workers about the content of basic salary and seniority allowance in the afternoon of February 11 so that on the morning of February 12, workers and laborers can return to work with peace of mind.
On the afternoon of February 11, the company agreed to make the payment.seniority allowancefor workers and laborers starting from March 2022 for workers and laborers working at the company for 1 year or more. At the same time, agree to consider paying basic salaries to workers and laborers equal to or higher than those of businesses in the same area as soon as possible.
The company has nearly 5,000 newly stable workers, the grassroots union has just been established for more than 10 months and does not have much experience in organization and operation. Last year, the Covid-19 pandemic raged, trade, travel, import and export of goods encountered many difficulties, workers should share some of the difficulties with the company, consider the company's difficulties as part of their own difficulties, join hands, and share some of the difficulties with the business. On the company's side, it is necessary to study the wishes of workers to consider ensuring the harmonious interests of both parties.
