These days, Mr. Vuong Dinh Trinh's family in Hoi Lam village, Cam Son commune (Anh Son) is harvesting early winter cucumbers. He said that in previous years, when producing winter cucumbers, they were planted in November and harvested simultaneously, so they had difficulty selling them.

This year, his family sowed early so he could sell at a higher price. Currently, with more than 2 sao of cucumbers, he can pick 7-8 yen a day, sometimes 1.2 quintals of cucumbers a day. More excited, because there are few cucumbers at this time, the price is good and easy to sell. With the price of 10,000 - 12,000 VND/kg, by the end of the season, after deducting expenses, Mr. Trinh will earn about 8 million VND/sao.

The melon field next to Mr. Trinh's house of Ms. Nguyen Thi Van is also in harvest season. According to Ms. Van, her family has 1.5 sao of land to grow cucumbers. This early melon crop, she sowed in August, harvested from the end of September to the end of October. The main melon crop is sown in November and harvested the following year. The early melon crop is estimated to yield 1-1.5 tons per sao, after deducting costs, the profit is 7-10 million VND/sao.

Mr. Nguyen Van Thang - Vice Chairman of Cam Son Commune People's Committee said: each crop, the commune plans nearly 50 hectares of alluvial land, land on the side, and field to grow various vegetables; the area is mainly concentrated in Hoi Lam, Cam Thang, Ha Du villages... This year, some people grow squash and cucumbers off-season, harvesting early, so the purchase price is higher than every year.

Currently, off-season cucumbers are grown by many people in Cam Son, Tuong Son, Hoa Son communes with an area of more than 10 hectares. According to people's calculations, cucumbers are easy to grow, easy to care for, with low investment costs, just with a bamboo trellis for cucumbers, if well preserved, they can be used for 3 to 4 production crops; during the season, they can be harvested every 2 days within 1 month; the average yield is 1.5 tons/sao, excluding costs, each hectare earns from 100 to 150 million VND.

In particular, the cucumber variety here is a local variety, grown by the locals themselves. The fruit is not as big as the high-yield variety, but it is crispy and fragrant, so it is favored by traders.
