African swine fever has been a "hot" topic in Dien Chau district recently when the African swine fever situation here is complicated. Therefore, on the afternoon of May 16, the leaders of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, led by Mr. Nguyen Van Lap - Deputy Director of the Department, and the Veterinary Department of Region III worked with Dien Chau district on solutions to prevent and control African swine fever in the coming time.

Dien Chau district said that the business, trade, transportation, slaughtering and consumption of pigs in the district are complicated and difficult to control. Therefore, the work of disease prevention and control faces many difficulties.

The outbreak of African swine fever in recent days in Dien Chau is due to the fact that the outbreak has been occurring in the province for many months, so there are many sources of the disease. Meanwhile, pigs are being transported and slaughtered by people without control.

Dien Chau needs to focus on more drastic propaganda about the harmful effects of this epidemic on pigs so that people understand; early detection of outbreaks, timely destruction and announcement of the epidemic. Continue to control pig slaughter and trading. In addition, the district directs localities to propagate to people not to increase the herd at this time. Organize strict blockades in communes, especially on hot days and sudden rains.

In particular, with the risk of African swine fever spreading further, Dien Chau district needs to mobilize the entire political system to participate in disease prevention and control. In the coming time, Dien Chau must focus on implementing the province's directives, especially the African swine fever prevention and control scenario that the province has issued.

Mr. Nguyen Van Lap requested the Department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Medicine to provide additional chemicals to Dien Chau and Nghi Loc districts for large-scale disinfection spraying.

According to the report of the People's Committee of Dien Chau district, as of May 16, in the district, there were 22 households in 15 hamlets, 11 communes including: Dien Van, Dien Kim, Dien Thai, Dien Quang, Dien Bich, Dien Xuan, Dien Doai, Dien Hong, Dien Hanh, Dien My, Dien Truong recorded African swine fever. The total herd of pigs has been destroyed 137, with a total weight of 4,447 kg.

There are currently about 30,000 pigs in the district, however there is only one concentrated farm in the district, the rest are raised in the form of family farms and small-scale.
