PV:Can you tell us your thoughts when you were nominated to run for the 14th National Assembly?

Comrade Tran Van Mao:Through the negotiation steps, I am now one of the five official candidates on the list for voters to vote in constituency number 4, including Vinh city, Hung Nguyen, Nam Dan and Thanh Chuong districts.

I realize that the National Assembly is the highest authority of the country, with three basic functions: making the constitution and legislation; deciding on important issues of the country regarding economy - society, national defense - security, foreign affairs...; and performing the supervisory function. Therefore, being nominated to run for the National Assembly is both an honor and a great responsibility for me, that if I am elected by voters as a deputy of the 14th National Assembly, I must strive with the National Assembly and the National Assembly deputies to perform well the three functions of the National Assembly.

PV:As a delegate of the Provincial People's Council for the 15th and 16th terms, what advantages do you have as a National Assembly delegate?

Comrade Tran Van Mao:As a person with professional training in law and 32 years of working in the field of research, development, and promulgation of legal documents; policy mechanisms, and Resolutions of the Provincial People's Council as an officer of the Department of Justice and a delegate of the Provincial People's Council for 2 terms, as a Standing Member of the Provincial People's Council for the 16th term, 2011 - 2016; has given me experience, theoretical and practical foundations, and sufficient conditions and abilities to perform the duties and tasks of a National Assembly delegate.

From my work experience, I have accumulated experiences, methods and approaches in law-making to join the National Assembly and National Assembly deputies in gradually perfecting our country's legal system. From there, I can regulate relations in all fields of politics, economics, culture - society, security - defense, foreign affairs...; contributing to promoting the strong development of the country, contributing to building a rule-of-law state of the people, by the people and for the people.

PV:With such advantages, if elected as a delegate to the 14th National Assembly, what are your plans and actions, comrade?

Comrade Tran Van Mao:If elected by voters as a National Assembly delegate, I will actively research, grasp reality, discover and recommend the National Assembly to promulgate, amend and supplement mechanisms and policies to promote the country's socio-economic development to meet the requirements of increasingly deep integration today.

The issue I am concerned about is how the National Assembly can have mechanisms and policies to promote industrialization and modernization of agriculture and rural areas; develop services, apply scientific and technological advances to agricultural production, link with the consumption of agricultural products, and increase the income value of farmers.

I will also recommend to the National Assembly, the Government and the Central Ministries and branches to pay attention to training and vocational training policies, job creation for farmers' children - who account for 75% of the country's population - along with other practical social security policies...

In addition, I will also focus on issues related to administrative procedure reform, especially administrative procedures related to people and businesses; the sense of responsibility, bureaucracy, arrogance, authoritarianism, corruption, and waste among officials and civil servants, and I will also focus on giving opinions with the National Assembly and National Assembly deputies to have measures and solutions to overcome them... Pay attention to the work of receiving citizens, receiving and handling complaints and denunciations of citizens and voters, ensuring the legitimate rights and interests of citizens and voters.
