Trump fires acting Attorney General for opposing immigration decree

US President Donald Trump has fired Acting Attorney General Sally Yates and appointed Dana Boente, who is currently serving as the Eastern District Attorney in Virginia, to take over the position.

RT news site reported that Yates was dismissed on January 30, just hours after it was reported that she asked US Justice Department lawyers not to defend an executive order by Mr. Trump banning entry to people from seven Muslim countries.

A statement from the Office of the Press Secretary stated that Ms. Yates "betrayed the Department of Justice by refusing to enforce a legal order designed to protect American citizens"./.
