Breaking up a football betting ring worth nearly 100 billion VND during the World Cup season
The suspect nicknamed "Fat Tuan" in Thanh Hoa bought a football betting account for 2 billion VND, divided it into smaller parts, and organized betting with a transaction amount of nearly 100 billion VND.
On the afternoon of June 25, information from Thanh Hoa Provincial Police said that the Criminal Police force of this province had just dismantled a gambling ring in the form of online football betting, arresting 11 suspects.
Previously, on June 24, the Criminal Police Department of Thanh Hoa Province Police deployed forces to arrest Ho Duc Tuan (nicknamed Tuan "fat") and Nguyen Van Tuan (nicknamed Tuan "six"), both residing in Thanh Hoa, the two ringleaders of the ring.

Expanding the investigation, the police force continued to arrest 9 other suspects, including: Nguyen Van Huan (42 years old), Doan Van Sy (32 years old), Doan Huu Hung (39 years old), Le Tho Mai (34 years old), Le Thi Ha (49 years old), Ho Thi Canh (46 years old), Nguyen Dang Duc (36 years old), Trinh Thi Yen (34 years old), all residing in Dong Son district, Thanh Hoa and Trinh Ngoc Thuyet (36 years old, residing in Trieu Son town, Trieu Son district, Thanh Hoa).
Searching the residences of 11 suspects, the police seized more than 700 million VND in cash, 2 cars, 16 mobile phones, several computers, fax machines... which are evidence related to football betting activities.
According to the police investigation, taking advantage of the 2018 World Cup season, "fat" Tuan bought a football master account on the website ABC.332bet.com for 2 billion VND.

Tuan "beo" and Tuan "sau" then divided the total football account into sub-accounts for the 9 suspects above to manage and together organized football betting on all football matches in the 2018 World Cup finals.
At the police station, the suspects initially confessed that the total amount of money transacted for football betting activities from the beginning of the World Cup season until their arrest was nearly 100 billion VND.
The Criminal Police Department of Thanh Hoa Provincial Police is continuing to investigate and clarify the case./.
