How is land classified according to the provisions of the 2024 Land Law?

According to Article 9 of the 2024 Land Law, land classification is as follows:
1. Based on their intended use, land is classified into agricultural land, non-agricultural land, and unused land.
2. Agricultural land includes the following types of land:
a) Land for annual crops, including rice paddies and other land for annual crops;
b) Land for growing perennial crops;
c) Forest land, including special-use forest land, protection forest land, and production forest land;
d) Land used for aquaculture;
d) Land for concentrated livestock farming;
e) Land used for salt production;
g) Other agricultural land.
3. Non-agricultural land includes the following types of land:
a) Residential land, including residential land in rural areas and residential land in urban areas;
b) Land for constructing agency headquarters;
c) Land used for national defense and security purposes (hereinafter referred to as national defense and security land);
d) Land for the construction of public service facilities, including: land for the construction of cultural, social, medical, educational and training, physical education and sports, science and technology, environmental, meteorological and hydrological, diplomatic and other public service facilities or land for the construction of headquarters of other public service units;
d) Land used for non-agricultural production and business, including: land for industrial zones and clusters; land for commerce and services; land for non-agricultural production facilities; land used for mining activities;
e) Land used for public purposes, including: land for transportation infrastructure; land for irrigation infrastructure; land for water supply and drainage infrastructure; land for disaster prevention and control infrastructure; land with historical and cultural relics, scenic spots, and natural heritage; land for waste treatment facilities; land for energy and public lighting infrastructure; land for postal, telecommunications, and information technology infrastructure; land for local markets and wholesale markets; land for public playgrounds, entertainment areas, and community activities;
g) Land used for religious activities (hereinafter referred to as religious land); land used for belief activities (hereinafter referred to as belief land);
h) Land for cemeteries, funeral homes, crematoriums; land for facilities storing cremated remains;
i) Land with specialized water bodies;
k) Other non-agricultural land.
4. Unused land is land whose intended use has not been determined and which has not been allocated or leased.
5. The Government shall specify the types of land in detail in this Article.
