Increase in crime and violations

According to the assessment results at the conference, in December, 65 cases of crimes against social order were detected, 1 person died and 18 people were injured, causing damage of 800 million VND. The provincial police discovered and eliminated 1lineorganizing inter-provincial gambling, temporarily detaining 16 defendants, clarifying the gambling amount of more than 150 billion VND.

Regarding drugs, 86 cases were discovered, 115 subjects were arrested, more than 61 kg of heroin, 179 kg of synthetic drugs, 3 kg of crystal meth, more than 37 kg of opium were seized. Compared to November, there were 20 cases and 22 subjects increased. Notably, most recently, in December, there was the dismantling of a drug trafficking and illegal transportation ring from Laos, arresting 4 subjects from Dien Bien, seizing 150 heroin cakes, 175.8 kg of crystal meth.

Regarding crimes violating economic and environmental management order, in December, the authorities discovered and arrested 240 cases, 280 subjects, seized 225 kg of explosives, 865 kg of firecrackers, 1.2 tons of animals and smuggled goods worth about 1.9 billion VND. Compared to November, there were 47 cases and 80 subjects increased. Typically, Quynh Luu District Police arrested 4 subjects for storing and transporting 250 kg of illegal firecrackers.

Regarding social evils, December also recorded an increase compared to the previous month of 3 cases, 5 subjects out of a total of 59 cases, 279 subjects were discovered and arrested. Only 2 areas decreased, which were traffic accidents (decreased by 12 cases, 5 deaths, 8 injuries) and 2 fewer fires.

Also in December, the provincial police handled 362 crime reports, processed 244 reports with 151 criminal prosecutions. The provincial inspectorate also conducted 44 economic inspections at 79 units, completed 27 of them, and discovered that 30/79 units hadviolatewith a total amount of more than 8.6 billion VND. 57 specialized inspections were conducted with 66 organizations and 1,156 individuals, mainly in the fields of transportation and environmental resources. Thereby, 49 organizations and 47 individuals were discovered to have violated the law, and a fine of more than 1.8 billion VND was recommended.

Tighten security and order

In the coming time, identified as the peak time of activities in all fields, the conference requested relevant departments and branches to increase accurate and close forecasts of the situation as well as issues affecting thesecurity, order to have a plan to ensure, especially before, during and after the 13th National Congress of the Party (taking place from January 25 to February 2, 2021).

Party committees and authorities at all levels focus on leadership and direction to ensure security, order and social safety in the area. Continue to implement effective epidemic prevention and control measures, especially in border areas.

Continue to direct and have solutions to solve complicated problems, especially those related to land violations; strengthen the suppression of all types of crimes, especially drug crimes, smuggling, trade fraud, and violations of food hygiene and safety. In addition, speed up the resolution of cases and cases as directed by the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee.
