Phan Boi Chau High School for the Gifted is a school with a long history of achievements in the Nghe An education sector. In the 2016-2017 school year alone, for the first time, the school achieved a record of achievements in the country's specialized school education system when it had 7 students participating and winning prizes at international and regional Olympic competitions, including 2 Gold medals at the International Olympiad in Mathematics and Physics; 2 Silver medals at the International Olympiad in Physics and Chemistry; 1 Silver medal, 1 Encouragement prize at the Asia-Pacific Physics Olympiad; and 1 First prize in essay writing at the Russian Olympiad.

The school also has 88 students winning National Excellent Student Awards, 3 students winning awards at the National Science and Technology Innovation Competition. Many students are valedictorians and salutatorians of the National High School Exam.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee Nguyen Xuan Son highly appreciated the efforts of the school's staff, teachers and students. Entering the 2017-2018 school year, he hoped that Phan Boi Chau High School for the Gifted would thoroughly implement the President's congratulatory letter and the directive on key tasks of the education sector.
