Report to the working group ofVice President Dang Thi Ngoc Thinh, Mr. Trinh Van Nha - Chairman of Thanh Chuong District People's Committee said that due to the influence of the weather, from the night of October 28 to the morning of October 30, 2020 in the areaThanh Chuong districtThere is heavy to very heavy rain causing water levels in rivers, streams, lakes, dams, fields, and residential areas to rise very quickly, causing flooding and widespread isolation.

Flood situationcaused damage to people's property and crops. In the district, 3 people were swept away by floods and 3 people were injured. Heavy rains flooded 4,104 households, forced 746 households to evacuate due to landslides; 9 schools, 6 medical stations, and 1 commune People's Committee headquarters were flooded.

The floods also caused 18 houses to have their walls collapsed, 9 houses to have their roofs blown off, 11 houses to have trees fall on them, and 12,115 m of fences to collapse. Tens of thousands of local poultry were damaged, and 2 roads were severely eroded... The total damage in the district is estimated at 75 billion VND.

Sharing the losses and difficulties that the people and local authorities in the district are facing, Vice President Dang Thi Ngoc Thinh asked authorities at all levels to quickly repair damaged traffic systems and clean up schools so that students can go to school.

Comrade Dang Thi Ngoc Thinh also requested that authorities at all levels actively support families affected by floods, helping people to soon restore production and ensure normal life.

On this occasion, Vice President Dang Thi Ngoc Thinh presented gifts from the Central Relief Committee worth VND500 million to support Thanh Chuong district to overcome damage caused by floods; and also presented gifts to 30 families of meritorious people in the district.
