(Baonghean.vn) - The movement of planting bamboo and reeds to prevent landslides along the Lam River has received positive responses from farmer members. Up to now, the whole Anh Son district has planted 6.5km with 16,000 bamboo trees and reeds.

On March 12, Mr. Nguyen Van De - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee attended the launching ceremony of planting bamboo and anti-erosion bamboo in response to the Government's "Planting one billion trees" program and inspected agricultural development models in Anh Son district.

Also attending were members of the Provincial Party Committee: Phung Thanh Vinh - Director of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development; Nguyen Quang Tung - Chairman of the Provincial Farmers' Association; Nguyen Huu Sang - Secretary of the Anh Son District Party Committee; representatives of leaders of a number of provincial and Anh Son district departments, branches and sectors.

Implementing the Plan of the Farmers' Association of Anh Son district on planting bamboo and bamboo trees to prevent landslides along the Lam River and the Government's program "Planting one billion trees", right after the launching ceremony, cadres and members of the Farmers' Association of Village 7, Khai Son commune planted bamboo along the Lam River. According to the plan, Khai Son commune will plant 1,500 bamboo trees and bamboo trees with a length of 5km.

Along with planting bamboo on the dike to prevent landslides, the Commune Farmers' Association will continue to encourage people to plant bamboo in vulnerable areas at risk of landslides in the commune.

In recent years, after each heavy rain, floods in localities in Nghe An province have caused landslides on the Lam River bank, affecting people's lives and agricultural land. To overcome the above situation, in early 2024, the People's Committee of Anh Son district coordinated with the district Farmers' Association to implement a plan to plant bamboo and bamboo along the Lam River bank to create an ecological embankment to prevent landslides and erosion.

This movement has received positive response from farmer members. Up to now, the whole Anh Son district has planted 6.5km with 16,000 bamboo trees.

According to the plan, Anh Son district will summarize this movement on April 30, 2024 and conclude on the occasion of the 95th founding day of the Communist Party of Vietnam (February 3, 1930 - February 3, 2025).

Chairman of the Provincial Farmers' Association Nguyen Quang Tung said: The movement of planting bamboo and bamboo to prevent landslides along the Lam River is a practical activity that has received positive responses from Anh Son farmers. Planting bamboo is low-cost, easy to do, and is an effective solution to protect agricultural land, traffic works, and irrigation works. This is also an important solution to regulate the river to effectively respond to climate change, stabilize people's lives and production.

Through this movement, we aim to propagate, encourage and motivate cadres, members and people to actively promote the movement of planting trees, caring for and protecting resources; promote the tradition and cultural beauty of the nation on the Tree Planting Festival to forever remember Uncle Ho; contribute to mitigating natural disasters and global climate change.

From the effectiveness of the bamboo planting model to prevent landslides and erosion along the Lam River by farmers in Anh Son, the Provincial Farmers' Association will advise the Provincial People's Committee to replicate this model in localities in the province.

Next, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Van De and the delegation inspected the Bu Sen orange nursery model in Khai Son commune. Bu Sen orange is considered a specialty fruit of Anh Son, grown mainly in Khai Son commune with an area of ​​nearly 25 hectares. In recent years, Bu Sen orange has affirmed its brand and been recognized as a 3-star fruit in the OCOP program.

The delegation also visited the chicken farming model of Bui Cong Chung's family in village 2, Hoi Son commune, with a scale of 15,000 chickens/batch.
