Deputy Prime Minister: The Culture, Sports and Tourism sector still has a lot of work to do

On the morning of January 19, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism held an online conference to summarize the work of 2018 and deploy tasks for 2019 at 64 locations nationwide.

According to the report of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, in 2018, the work of preserving and promoting cultural heritage received attention and direction. Many historical and cultural relics and scenic spots were preserved, restored and promoted. Festival activities had many positive changes. The movement "All people unite to build a cultural life" continued to be promoted in conjunction with the implementation of the new rural construction program.

Vietnam tourism in 2018 also made great strides, welcoming nearly 15.5 million international visitors, up 19.9% compared to 2017; serving 80 million domestic visitors, total tourism revenue is estimated at 620,000 billion VND, up 21.4% compared to 2017. Vietnam tourism ranked 3rd in the 10 countries with the fastest growth in international visitors in the world; is the only representative of Asia to be included in the list of 3/10 countries with the best tourism experiences in the world.
At the conference, Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam highly appreciated the achievements of the culture, sports and tourism sector in the past year. However, the Deputy Prime Minister said that the sector still has a lot of work to do: Cultural work is long-term and continuous, but needs more determination, how to prevent the degradation of social ethics, promote good cultural values; Regarding festival work, it is necessary to deploy inspection teams to hot spots to urge and remind, how to avoid the limitations of 2018, resolutely deal with acts that distort the value and nature of festivals; Regarding tourism, more efforts must be made because current achievements are still not commensurate with the country's development potential, not keeping up with other countries in the region and the world.
