Coordinate to ensure safety, save and use electricity effectively

On the morning of April 6, in Hai Phong city, the Northern Power Corporation held an online conference on EVNNPC joining hands with customers to use electricity economically and efficiently.

Attending the conference at the main bridge were representatives of the Ministry of Industry and Trade; Mr. Nguyen Duc Thien - Member of the Board of Members, General Director of the Northern Power Company. The conference connected with 27 bridges in 27 provinces and cities in the North.

Ensure safe and stable power supply

2022 is a difficult and challenging year for the Vietnamese electricity industry and the Northern Power Corporation. High fuel prices have made fuel supply for power plants difficult, many places in the world have had to increase electricity prices, reduce electricity supply...

With many effective solutions, the Northern Power Corporation has successfully completed the plan targets according to the five themes of "Safe, flexible and effective adaptation", ensuring safe, stable and quality electricity supply for socio-economic development and people's lives in 27 northern provinces/cities with commercial electricity output reaching over 86.5 billion kWh, up 5.77%, ranking first among the 5 distribution corporations.

In 2022, the Corporation will also deploy a series of services to support customers such as: Subscription service for managing and operating electrical works belonging to customers' assets; Testing and calibration services; Design, construction and installation services for electrical works...

Thereby, helping businesses improve the quality of management and operation of invested power projects to ensure efficiency and safety, avoiding incidents that cause power outages for customers and over-leveling the Corporation's power grid. During the year, the Corporation has made every effort with all resources to ensure electricity supply for socio-economic development of 27 northern provinces and cities. People can easily access services provided by the electricity industry, thereby saving costs, time, and improving production and business efficiency.

Regarding the load forecast situation in 2023, through calculation and forecast, EVNNPC's Pmax in the summer of 2023 will fall between 16,403 MW - 16,943 MW (corresponding to a growth of 5.5% - 8.8%), so on extremely hot days during peak hours, the Northern power system (including 27 northern provinces and the capital Hanoi) may have to regulate down 1,400 MW - 2,600 MW, equivalent to 8.5% - 15%.

With the assessment that the second quarter of each year is the peak of the dry season and the most stressful time of the year in terms of ensuring power supply for the entire system. This poses many difficulties and challenges for the electricity industry in ensuring power supply, stable, safe and continuous operation of the national power system.

Use electricity economically and efficiently

The conference is an opportunity for the Northern Power Corporation, local authorities at all levels, and customers to discuss production and business activities, customer services, electricity supply solutions, and energy-saving programs, especially in the context that the North is at risk of local power shortages at some points during the hot season in 2023.

Within the framework of the conference, business representatives also exchanged information and shared experiences on load adjustment (DR) and practical electricity saving in businesses.

Concluding the Conference, Mr. Nguyen Duc Thien - Chairman of the Board of Members, General Director of EVNNPC affirmed that the highest goal of the Northern Power Corporation is to mobilize all resources to the maximum, be decisive and flexible in directing and operating to ensure safe and continuous electricity supply to serve production and people's lives, at the same time continue to apply science and technology, resolutely implement digital transformation in all fields to bring the best and most convenient services to electricity customers.

To achieve that, the Northern Power Corporation hopes to receive support and facilitation from electricity customers, especially the business community in the North.

During the hot season of 2023, EVNNPC recommends that customers proactively arrange production reasonably, avoid production during peak hours, especially large capacity loads of steel, cement, ore smelting, and construction materials production industries.

At the same time, strengthen the combination of maintenance and repair of equipment and production lines to reduce the load on the power grid. Enterprises are requested to focus on saving electricity by minimizing the use of cooling equipment, air conditioning systems, and limiting the operation of high-capacity equipment during peak hours.

Ensuring electricity supply in 2023 and the following years is forecast to be very difficult, so EVNNPC hopes to receive direction from the Ministry of Industry and Trade and provinces and cities as well as coordination and sharing from businesses and people to provide continuous and safe electricity supply.
