Quynh Vinh women collect scrap metal to raise funds to help poor households

(Baonghean.vn) - The Women's Union of Quynh Vinh Commune (Hoang Mai Town) has many creative ways to help each other develop together, contributing to the locality's construction of new rural areas.

Quynh Vinh Commune Women's Union visited and gave gifts to poor member families.

The criteria of “no poverty” is given top priority by all levels of the Women’s Union. The Commune Women’s Union actively coordinates with relevant departments and branches to propagate and raise awareness of economic development and sustainable poverty reduction; organizes training courses on science and technology transfer, establishes pilot models, and provides vocational training for 670 cadres, members, and women. Effectively exploits and maintains loan sources.

Up to now, the total capital the Association is managing is 12,030,583,000 VND, lent to 412 borrowers, of which the policy bank loan is 11,830,583,000 VND, lent to 372 households, and the clean water project capital is 200,000,000 VND, lent to 40 members.

The Association has directed, guided, and mobilized the Loan and Savings Groups to manage and guide members to use loan capital for the right purpose and effectively, and mobilized members to participate in savings reaching 93%. Up to now, there are 383 members participating in savings, with an amount of 202,000,000 VND.

Through activities to support women in sustainable poverty reduction, over the past 5 years, the Women's Union of Quynh Vinh commune has helped 220 poor member households, including 40 poor households headed by women, escape poverty, contributing to reducing the poverty rate of the commune to 6.8% (down 7.7% compared to the beginning of the term).

Responding to the campaign to build "Warm Houses of Love", the Association mobilized each member to donate from 5,000 to 10,000 VND/year. In 5 years, it has donated 52,300,000 VND, supporting the renovation of 04 "Warm Houses of Love" and repairing 01 shelter for poor members. In addition, it has proactively coordinated with departments, branches, unions, organizations and individuals to organize activities to visit and give gifts to children in difficult circumstances with the amount of 39,780,000 VND. From the activities of the Association, it has created affection and trust of members and people for the Women's Association.

In addition to actions to reduce the poverty rate, in recent years, the Women's Union of Quynh Vinh commune has also mobilized members to donate over 8,000 square meters of residential land to build rural roads, nearly 33,000 square meters of land for intra-field roads and over 3,500 working days.
