Re-release of novel 'Dawn' by writer Nguyen The Ky
On the evening of December 20, in Vinh city, Nghe An Publishing House organized a ceremony to introduce and launch the novel "Dawn" by Associate Professor, Doctor, journalist, writer, and screenwriter Nguyen The Ky.
Attending the ceremony were Mr. Nguyen Nhu Khoi - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Council; Associate Professor, Dr. Tran Khanh Thanh - Vice Chairman of the Central Council for Literature and Art Theory and Criticism; representatives of leaders of a number of departments, branches, provincial agencies and many artists of the province.

“Dawn” is a historical novel about Phan Dang Luu - a revolutionary predecessor, an outstanding intellectual of our Party and people who lived, fought, and sacrificed for the revolutionary ideal, for the independence and freedom of the Fatherland, and for the happiness of the people.

The book was first published by Literature Publishing House at the end of 2020 and republished by Nghe An Publishing House in 2024. This is a book ordered by the Provincial People's Committee to propagate and educate about the historical, cultural and revolutionary traditions of the country and homeland, thereby promoting patriotism, heroism, solidarity, pride and self-reliance to build Nghe An to develop more and more.

Phan Dang Luu (May 5, 1902 - August 28, 1941), was from Dong village, Hoa Thanh commune (formerly Trang Thanh commune), Yen Thanh district, Nghe An province. He was born into a peasant family with a tradition of Confucianism, patriotism, love of work, humanity, and loyalty. He soon showed his intelligence, studiousness, courage, and spirit, and was good at Chinese, French, literature, agronomy, political science, sociology, etc. During his youth, Phan Dang Luu cherished the ambition of liberating the country, leading our country on the path of independence, freedom, democracy, and progress.

With nearly 300 pages of book, under the talented pen ofAssociate Professor, Dr. Nguyen The Ky, revolutionary Phan Dang Luu appeared vividly, truthfully, and responsibly in each historical period associated with the revolutionary career, full of creativity but also full of hardships and sacrifices from the time he graduated from the French Agricultural School, determined to give up the life of an official in the colonial apparatus, joined patriotic associations and then became a key leader of our Party.


At the launching ceremony, literary researchers and critics expressed their feelings and highly appreciated the value of the novel "Dawn" as well as the contributions of Associate Professor, Doctor, writer and screenwriter Nguyen The Ky to the country's literature and art.

Associate Professor, PhD, journalist, writer, and screenwriter Nguyen The Ky is from Hoa Thanh commune, Yen Thanh district, Nghe An province. He is a former member of the 12th Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam, former General Director of the Voice of Vietnam, former Deputy Head of the Central Propaganda Department, and currently Chairman of the Central Council for Theory and Criticism of Literature and Arts.
In his literary and artistic career, he has many outstanding works such as: "Khau Vai Love Story" (reformed opera - 2013), "Mai Hac De" (reformed opera - 2014), "Hoa lua Truong Bon" (Nghe Tinh folk opera - 2017), "Ngân nam may trang" (opera - 2019), "Khau Vai Love Story" (novel - 2019)... and especially the novel "Hung Dong" (Literature Publishing House - 2020 and Nghe An Publishing House - 2024) and the 5-volume novel series about President Ho Chi Minh (3 volumes have been published).
