(Baonghean.vn) - On the morning of May 29, at Ho Chi Minh Square, the Central Committee of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union held the launching ceremony of the 2016 summer youth volunteer campaign.

Attending the launching ceremony, on the central side were comrades: Vo Van Thuong, Politburo member, Central Committee Secretary, Head of the Party Central Committee's Propaganda and Education Commission; Truong Thi Ngoc Anh - Vice President of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee; Le Quoc Phong, Alternate Member of the Party Central Committee, First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union, President of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Student Association.

On the provincial side, there were comrades: Nguyen Dac Vinh, member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee; Nguyen Xuan Son - Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee; Nguyen Xuan Duong - Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee - Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; Ho Phuc Hop - Member of the Standing Committee - Head of the Provincial Party Committee's Propaganda Department; Nguyen Dinh Hung - Member of the Provincial Party Executive Committee - Secretary of the Provincial Youth Union.

Delegates and 5,000 youth union members in the province attended the launching ceremony of the 2016 summer youth volunteer campaign.

The 2016 Summer Youth Volunteer Campaign with the theme "Youth join hands to build new rural areas and civilized urban areas" includes the program "Supporting exam season" and volunteer campaigns: Green Summer, Red Flamboyant, Pink Vacation, Green March.

Comrade Vo Van Thuong - Politburo member, Party Central Committee Secretary, Head of the Central Propaganda Department gave a speech at the launching ceremony of the 2016 Summer Volunteer Campaign.

The campaign focuses on organizing on-site volunteer activities, attracting a large number of young people and social forces to participate; linked to the needs of each local unit. In particular, focusing on specialized activities according to the field of expertise; improving the quality of models, activities, and projects for youth to participate in building new rural areas.

Comrade Le Quoc Phong - Alternate Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Central Youth Union spoke at the launching ceremony.

The volunteer campaign launched by the Central Youth Union this year will select key areas in 111 extremely disadvantaged villages in 12 provinces and 431 border communes and wards; in provinces affected by saltwater intrusion in the Mekong Delta, drought-stricken provinces in the South Central Coast, Central Highlands and in the peninsulas at the forefront of the Fatherland.

At the same time as the launching ceremony in Nghe An, the opening activities of the volunteer campaign were also held simultaneously across the country.

Immediately after the launching ceremony, a series of activities in response to the launching ceremony included: forest fire prevention, building firebreaks in Khanh Son and Nam Dan communes; Construction of electric lines to light up rural roads passing through 3 communes of Khanh Son, Nam Trung, Nam Cuong and Nam Dan.

Organized the distribution of 250 porridge and 300 rice meals to patients at Nghe An Oncology Hospital and gave gifts to patients and children in difficult circumstances; cleaned up along the coast in Nghi Tan - Cua Lo and removed advertising signs, classified ads, swept and collected garbage on the streets of Vinh city; started the construction of the Red Scarf house in Nghi Hop commune, Nghi Loc district; examined and provided free medicine to 500 people in Nghi Thuan commune, Nghi Loc district.

At the launching ceremony, Comrade Vo Van Thuong - Member of the Politburo - Secretary of the Party Central Committee - Head of the Central Propaganda Department and Comrade Le Quoc Phong - Alternate Member of the Party Central Committee - First Secretary of the Central Youth Union placed great trust in the volunteer spirit of the youth. With the spirit of vanguard, wherever there is difficulty, there will be young people, creating a volunteer season that leaves a deep impression on the people.

The comrades also affirmed that volunteer activities are a big playground and a big school that helps youth union members contribute and grow up, contributing to the formation of a generation of young people with compassion, courage, intelligence, and social skills, contributing to the cause of building and defending the Fatherland.
