On the morning of August 24, a working delegation of the People's Committee of Nghe An province led by Mr. Nguyen Van De - Member of the Provincial Party Committee, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee inspected and directed the response to storm No. 5 at a number of reservoirs and aquaculture areas in the area.

At the time of inspection, Vuc Mau Lake currently has a low water level. The Vuc Mau Lake management unit is discharging 1 gate with a flow of 72 m3/s. However, according to forecasts, Nghe An is in the direct impact area of storm number 5. After the inspection, comrade Nguyen Van De requested the Bac Nghe An Irrigation One Member Limited Liability Company to continue opening one more sluice gate to proactively receive the flood. The company must closely follow weather developments, instructions from the Provincial Party Committee, the Provincial People's Committee and the Department of Agriculture and Environment to have a timely plan to discharge flood to ensure the safety of the reservoir and downstream areas.

Next, the provincial delegation inspected the concentrated aquaculture area in Quynh Mai ward. This area has a total area of 330 hectares. Of which, people are currently raising 80 hectares of shrimp that are about to be harvested.
Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Van De requested sectors and localities to direct aquaculture farmers to organize early harvest before storm No. 5 hits, to minimize damage.

The delegation also inspected the Mo River system - which is responsible for draining water to avoid flooding in aquaculture areas. At this time, the Mo River system has 3 km of dykes that have not been reinforced; the riverbed has not been dredged for many years.

Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Van De directed relevant departments and units to urgently mobilize machinery to dredge the riverbed, supplement and reinforce technical measures to ensure response to storms and floods; in the long term, relevant units and localities will develop a project to reinforce the entire route./.
