Bustling Long Tong Festival in Que Phong

It has become a tradition that every spring and new year, farmers in Que Phong district organize the Long Tong festival, also known as the Going to the Fields Festival. This is a long-standing cultural beauty of the Thai ethnic group. During the festival, people will perform a ceremony to thank the gods for protecting the crops and pray for favorable weather, a successful season, and a bountiful harvest in the new year. Everyone in every household will be healthy, and their families will be warm, happy and prosperous.

Muong Noc commune has 275 hectares of rice, with an annual yield of over 51 quintals/hectare. In the 2016 Spring crop, the commune has restructured japonica, JO2, 986 and NA2 hybrid rice varieties. With the current favorable weather, farmers will finish planting the late tea crop by January 15.
