Brilliant flowers "overwhelm" weeds on Highway 7
(Baonghean.vn) - Recently, along National Highway 7A through Anh Son town, a road of hundreds of meters long with colorful flowers blooming along the median strip has appeared, creating an exciting feeling for passersby.
That result is thanks to the model "Planting flowers to replace weeds" launched by the town's Women's Union.
As one of the people who directly planted the first ten o'clock flowers to build the flower road, Ms. Lai Thi Viet, block 6B, Anh Son town shared: Her family lives right on National Highway 7A, 2 years ago the median strip in front of her family was overgrown with weeds, some households also threw trash on the street affecting the urban landscape.
In 2016, Ms. Viet and some surrounding households gathered to clean up, weed, and hoe the land to plant flowers. After a period of beautiful blooming flowers, the surrounding people proactively asked for seeds to plant in front of their house, thereby forming the beautiful flower road as it is today.

Ms. Hoang Thi Dung, residing in block 6B, Anh Son town, said: At first, due to the mentality of "every house has its own clean alley", flower planting was only carried out in a few households. Gradually, the colorful flower bushes changed people's thinking.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Thuy Hang - President of the Women's Union of Anh Son town said: Implementing the direction of the District Women's Union on implementing the flower road model, the Women's Union of the town has promoted and mobilized members in 10/10 branches to participate in planting flower roads to replace weeds, especially on the National Highway axis.Currently, not only in block 6B but also in the branches of block 6A, block 4A, block 2, the model has been implemented, with nearly 1 km of flowers on the national highway. The flower roads have contributed to limiting trash and weeds, making the urban face more fresh and vibrant.

In Anh Son district, the movement of planting flower roads is currently not only on the National Highway in Anh Son town but also in many other communes. In particular, the most prominent are in the communes of Phuc Son, Tuong Son, Vinh Son, and Thach Son.
Ms. Le Thi Thanh Nga - Vice President of the Women's Union of Anh Son district said: Determining this is an effective model, contributing to promoting the implementation of the campaign to build "Family of 5 no's and 3 clean" associated with building clean and beautiful villages and communes in the new rural construction movement, the District Women's Union has deployed and replicated it in all 21 union bases in the area and considers this a key task and immediate task of the union at all levels.
