Vinh Airport installs additional security booths after young man breaks in

On March 7, Mr. Hoang Van Thu - Director of Vinh International Airport said that, implementing the direction of the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam after the incident of a mentally ill young man illegally entering an aircraft, the airport has strengthened measures and improved infrastructure to ensure security.

Accordingly, on the afternoon of March 6, Vinh International Airport installed an additional guard booth in the area close to the fence separating the VIP entrance from aircraft parking lot No. 1. Security personnel will also be increased and maintained 24/7 here.

In addition, the Port's leadership is having construction engineers re-survey to reinforce the steel wire fences in front of the station. Currently, the fences are over 2 meters high, ensuring the required height but still climbable.

Meanwhile, the fence on the runway, just over 1 meter high, is made of barbed wire, preventing cattle from entering. In the future, the Port will continue to propose building a fence that meets standards.

It is known that Vinh International Airport currently has more than 90 security officers and employees in various departments. These employees will continue to be trained, raising their sense of discipline and compliance with regulations.

According to the report of the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam, the cause of the incident was due to the aviation security staff and aviation check-in staff of Vinh International Airport violating regulations in the work process.

Other reasons are that the facilities and equipment serving aviation security work still show some limitations in the ability to cover and control aviation security at the airport.

In another development, Mr. Hoang Ngoc Diep - Deputy Head of the Department of Political Affairs, Students, Vinh University said that Mr. LNT (born in 1997, 2nd year student, class 57, Faculty of Construction) - the person who is said to have illegally entered Vinh airport, did not have a permit to take a leave of absence to be hospitalized according to school regulations.

“In the second semester of the second year, T. still registered for credits as usual as in the first semester. The school did not know that T. was hospitalized for treatment and only heard about T. breaking into Vinh airport through the press,” said Mr. Diep.

(Baonghean.vn) - A young man named Tai is said to have lost control of his actions, crossed the security fence, went straight into Vinh International Airport, then went up the stairs, preparing to enter the plane's cabin when he was discovered.

The young man was discovered without a boarding pass when he was about to close the plane door. He was immediately detained by airline staff at the foot of the stairs and a report was made. Due to the incident, the flight had to stop for about 30 minutes before taking off.

The airport intruder was identified as a second-year student at Vinh University.

After that, the Civil Aviation Authority fined Vinh International Airport 40 million VND; the Deputy Director of the airport was warned in writing; 4 security officers at Vinh airport had their work certificates revoked and were fined 10 million VND/person.
