(Baonghean.vn) - Cargo output through Cua Lo Port in the first 3 months of 2019 reached nearly 800 thousand tons, down 10% over the same period in 2018; Revenue from production and business activities reached 35 billion VND, down 12% over the same period.

Accordingly, some packaged goods such as rice, animal feed, salt, equipment, etc. have seen a decrease in output through the Port due to a decrease in domestic consumption demand.

Fertilizer output reached 63 thousand tons, down 25%; coal output reached more than 3 thousand tons, down 81% compared to the same period in 2018 due to part of it being transferred to Vissai Port and domestic market demand continuously decreasing in recent years; stone output of all kinds reached 148 thousand tons, down 27% compared to the same period in 2018.

In addition to some items passing through the port increasing sharply such as: Ore reaching 52 thousand tons, up more than 500%; wood 6.5 thousand tons, up more than 200%; coiled steel more than 7 thousand tons, up 42%... the remaining items decreased sharply. Recently, some ports have sent price offers to all stone customers who have signed contracts with Nghe Tinh Port with the offered price being only 2/3. In addition, the Port invested by Vissai Group in Nghi Thiet commune, Cua Lo has come into operation, so since the beginning of 2018, Vissai's source of clinker and bulk cement no longer passes through Cua Lo Port.

Meanwhile, the turning basin at Cua Lo Port has not been invested by the State, which has limited large ships from entering and exiting Cua Lo Port to load and unload goods, especially ships > 150m in length cannot enter...

Therefore, if there is no solution to improve quality and reduce loading and unloading costs, Cua Lo Port will face difficulties in the current competitive context.
