Serious landslide on Lam River bank through Anh Son district
From September 8-10, in Tam Son commune, Anh Son district, serious riverbank erosion occurred, causing the loss of a large area of sugarcane.
Mr. Nguyen Van Que - Chairman of Tam Son Commune People's Committee said: Lam River section through Tam Son Commune, Anh Son District is about 6 km long. In the past few days, due to the impact of storm No. 3, the commune has suffered landslides of 400m of Lam River bank, equivalent to over 2 hectares of sugarcane land being washed away into the river. Currently, over 50 households have suffered damage, of which many households have had 1-1.5 hectares of sugarcane land washed away.

In addition, the areas of hamlets 1 and 2 also suffered from landslides on the banks of the Lam River, affecting hundreds of households. In the long term, the commune is in dire need of the State's attention and investment in building anti-erosion embankments to preserve cultivated land as well as ensure the safety of property and lives of the people.

Currently, the Lam River is rising, causing riverbank erosion, dragging soil and sugarcane down the river. The commune has sent forces to keep people from going to landslide sites.

Mr. Hoang Quyen - Chairman of the People's Committee of Anh Son district said: Anh Son district has long had a number of landslides on the Lam river bank, concentrated in the communes of Cam Son, Lang Son, Tam Son... Particularly in the recent storm No. 3, Tam Son commune suffered the most damage. On September 10, the district established a team to inspect the damage and encourage the people. In addition, the district also inspected other landslides on the river bank and has a plan to evacuate households to a safe place during the flood season.
