Will protect the brand "Thanh Chuong Black Canarium"
(Baonghean.vn) - Thanh Chuong district (Nghe An) currently has 20 hectares of black canarium, which has a good yield and is a specialty tree with good output in Thanh Chuong.
Black plum is a precious specialty of the midland and mountainous provinces and is especially a prominent specialty of Thanh Chuong district. In this locality, black plum appears in many communes such as Cat Van, Phong Thinh, Thanh Duc, Hanh Lam, Thanh Huong...
Canarium grows naturally, with a yield of over 100 kg/tree, concentrated in 12 communes and also scattered in some other communes. It is estimated that the whole district has about 2,000 trees with a yield of about 200 tons/year.

In previous years, Thanh Chuong black plums were mainly consumed fresh. Traditional processing methods cannot preserve them for long, do not ensure quality, food safety and hygiene, so there are certain limitations in increasing the value of plums.
From mid-2017 to present, with the coordination of the Department of Science and Technology, the application of science and technology to build a model for the production, processing and preservation of Thanh Chuong black plum has been deployed. Accordingly, two quality jarred salted plum and packaged dried plum products have been brought to the market, appearing in restaurants, supermarkets... and are trusted by customers everywhere.

At the workshop to evaluate the results of the project on applying science and technology to black canarium processing, the presentations affirmed the initial success of restoring and developing the Thanh Chuong black canarium brand. Some opinions said that it is necessary to further promote the implementation of this project, especially the application of science and technology to the processing stages, pay more attention to the raw material area, the need to expand the consumption market to big cities and the need to protect the exclusive rights of the brand "Thanh Chuong black canarium"...
Speaking at the workshop, Mr. Le Dinh Thanh - Vice Chairman of Thanh Chuong District People's Committee said that the project is very meaningful to Thanh Chuong people. After hill chicken, canarium is the second specialty of the district that has a brand name in the market. The district will create conditions to promote production, especially zoning raw materials. Not only canarium but also Thanh Chuong eggplant is expected to be the next product known to customers near and far.
