The draft Decree on administrative sanctions for violations in the fields of Post, Telecommunications, Radio Frequency, Information Technology and Network Information Security is being consulted by the Ministry of Information and Communications to detail the responsibilities of individuals using social networking services.

Accordingly, authorities will impose a fine of VND2 million to VND5 million for providing incorrect information when registering personal information.
In addition, users will be fined from VND5 million to VND10 million for taking advantage of social networks to provide false information, slander, distort, or insult the reputation of agencies, organizations, and the honor and dignity of individuals; Providing information that is not in line with the country's interests; Providing a map of Vietnam that does not fully represent or incorrectly represents national sovereignty.
This penalty also applies if the subject provides works that have been banned from circulation or confiscated, propagates, buys and sells goods and services on the prohibited list; provides information that incites violence, obscenity, depravity, crime, social evils, lottery, gambling, superstition, and destroys the nation's traditions and customs.
In addition, the act of using other people's personal information and images to create accounts to use social networking services will be fined from 10 million to 20 million VND; the act of illegally accessing social networking accounts of other organizations and individuals will be fined from 30 million to 50 million VND./.
