Will the rewards for students who win national and international awards be increased?

Students who win prizes in national and international competitions are proposed to be awarded higher rewards than at present.

The Ministry of Education and Training is proposing to develop a Decree regulating the reward regime for students who win prizes in national and international competitions and national and international vocational skills competitions.

Accordingly, the Draft Decree stipulates the form of reward, for students with outstanding achievements, winning 2 World Gold Medals in Olympic competitions in subjects, scientific and technical research competitions or winning Asian Gold Medals and World Gold Medals in vocational competitions, they will be awarded the First Class Labor Medal.

Students who win the World Gold Medal will be awarded the Second Class Labor Medal. The Third Class Labor Medal will be awarded to students who win the Asian Gold Medal or the World Silver Medal.

Students who win the Southeast Asian Gold Medal, Asian Silver Medal, or World Bronze Medal will be awarded a Certificate of Merit by the Prime Minister.

Students who achieve one of the following achievements: Winning an Asian Bronze Medal or a Southeast Asian Silver Medal or a Southeast Asian Bronze Medal; Winning an encouragement prize in an international excellent student competition; Winning a first, second or third prize in a national competition will be awarded a Certificate of Merit from the Minister of Education and Training or the Minister of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs.

During a school year, students who achieve many achievements in international competitions will be considered for the highest achievement awards.

In addition, the reward levels for students who win world prizes are as follows: Gold Medal is 50 times the basic salary; Silver Medal is 33 times the basic salary; Bronze Medal: 22 times the basic salary; Encouragement: 12 times the basic salary.

For students who win Asian prizes, the bonus levels are as follows: Gold Medal: 33 times the basic salary; Silver Medal: 22 times the basic salary; Bronze Medal: 12 times the basic salary; Encouragement: 07 times the basic salary.

The bonus levels for students who win Southeast Asia prizes are as follows: Gold Medal: 22 times the basic salary; Silver Medal: 12 times the basic salary; Bronze Medal: 07 times the basic salary; Encouragement: 05 times the basic salary.

Bonus levels for students winning national prizes: First Prize: 4 times the basic salary; Second Prize: 2.5 times the basic salary; Third Prize: 1.5 times the basic salary.

Procedures and records for award consideration shall comply with the provisions of Article 55 of Decree No. 91/2017/ND-CP./.
