Police officers can have their working time extended to 70 years old
From July 25, professors, associate professors, doctors, and senior experts in the police force will have their service age extended to teach and conduct scientific research.
Decree 49/2019, effective from July 25, stipulates that the age of service in the People's Public Security is 60 years old for men and 55 years old for women.

Officers who are professors, associate professors, doctors, and senior experts may have their service age extended to teach and conduct scientific and technological research at universities and research institutes in the People's Public Security, but may not hold leadership or command positions.
Each "extension" of service age shall not exceed two years, but the total time shall not exceed 10 years for professors; not exceed 7 years for associate professors; not exceed 5 years for doctors and senior experts.
Officers are allowed to extend their service age when they meet the following conditions: they are directly employed by the unit, the officer has a need and there is a shortage of staff compared to the prescribed quota; they have good health, qualities, professional expertise and are willing to continue working as required.
During the period of extending the service age, the above-mentioned person has the right to request to stop working to enjoy retirement benefits according to the provisions of law.
Retirement mode
Police officers and non-commissioned officers upon retirement are entitled to pension benefits in accordance with the provisions of the Law on Social Insurance. Those working in specific areas and occupations are entitled to a one-time allowance, with each year being entitled to one month's salary immediately preceding retirement.
If retiring before the highest service age of one year or more due to changes in organization or staffing, police officers and non-commissioned officers are also entitled to a one-time allowance equal to 3 months' salary for each year of early retirement; and 5 months' salary for the first 20 years of service (from the age of 21 onwards, each year of service is entitled to an allowance equal to 1/2 of the salary of the month immediately preceding retirement)...
Salary and allowances
According to the salary table of police workers, the salary is calculated according to the formula: Base salary x Salary coefficient. With a salary coefficient from 2.7 to 6.65, the salary of police workers ranges from 4,023,000 VND/month to 9,908,500 VND/month.
