Tighten management of transportation activities during the Dinh Dau Tet holiday

(Baonghean.vn) - On the morning of December 26, the Department of Transport held a conference to review transport work in 2016 and deploy tasks for 2017.

To date, the Department of Transport has licensed 178 automobile transport businesses. In 2016, the Department of Transport promptly issued mechanisms and policies to encourage the development of services and transport support activities.

Enterprises have focused on and improved the quality of passenger service, proactively invested in many new high-quality vehicles, expanded fixed passenger transport routes within and outside the province; opened many new bus routes, and adjusted the frequency of buses to suit people's travel needs.

Comrade Nguyen Hong Ky - Member of the Provincial Party Committee, Director of the Department of Transport emphasized: In 2017, the Department of Transport continued to direct the creation of new breakthroughs in transportation work.

The volume of goods transported through the port reached 1.3 million tons, an increase of 6.7% over the same period in 2015. In 2016, the volume of passenger transport by air is estimated at 1.7 million passengers, an increase of 23.3% over the same period in 2015.

Comrade Nguyen Hong Ky - Director of the Department of Transport said: The Department has implemented many measures to tighten the management of transport activities and control vehicle load, transport activities such as handling violations through data extracted from the GSHT device, handling vehicles operating against regulations (illegal vehicles) and vehicles that have expired, controlling transport fares for passenger transport enterprises, controlling vehicle load; creating positive changes in both quality and quantity in management, operation, service, contributing to reducing accidents and ensuring traffic order and safety in the area.

In 2016, the Department of Transport Inspectorate inspected 6,650 vehicles, detected and recorded 996 administrative violations due to overloading and exceeding the size limit, forcing the unloading of 1,336.4 tons of goods, temporarily detaining 8 vehicles, with a fine of nearly 6 billion VND.

In 2017, the Department of Transport strives to exceed the target of passenger and cargo transport volume assigned by the Provincial People's Committee, serving well the travel needs of the people during the holidays and Tet. The Department creates maximum conditions for transport enterprises, continues to advise on mechanisms, preferential policies, support and encourage the development of public passenger transport by bus.

Transport units invest in facilities and vehicles to improve service quality and production and business efficiency. Special attention is paid to raising awareness and responsibility of drivers.

At the same time, continue to tighten management of transportation activities, strengthen inspection and examination of compliance with policies and laws on transportation business activities of enterprises, contributing to ensuring traffic safety.

On this occasion, the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee awarded certificates of merit to 4 groups and 3 individuals; the Director of the Department of Transport awarded certificates of merit to groups and individuals with outstanding achievements in transportation work in 2016.
