Vinh University students held a surprise birthday party for their mother on a gratitude night.

(Baonghean.vn) - In the letter sent to the organizers, the girl shared that she wanted to give her mother a surprise because her hard-working mother had never had a birthday party or received a gift.

The evening of May 30th was an emotional night for all those present at the gratitude concert “May – Memories and Turning Points” organized by the Vinh University Student Association. Especially, when it came to the part “Gratitude – for the love that remains”, the entire hall A of Vinh University almost exploded with emotion at the special birthday party of student Hoang Thi Phuc, class 54A Foreign Language Pedagogy, for her mother.

Born into a poor family, with her father dying early due to a serious illness, Mrs. Bui Thi Loan single-handedly raised Phuc and her three siblings to become educated adults. Phuc confided, “Seeing the sacrifices that my mother made for us, I love her even more and promise to try hard to study well to repay her kindness in raising me.” For Phuc, his mother is the driving force that helps him always strive forward, achieve good results, and be an excellent student during his 4 years in school.

When he learned that Vinh University's student association would grant a wish to a graduating student, Phuc wrote a letter to the organizers with the hope of being able to organize a surprise birthday party for his mother.

In the letter, Phuc wrote:

“It seems that for the past 23 years, from the day I was born, the first time I cried, the first time I learned to talk, walk, and think, the first day I went to school, and until now, the day I left university, there has not been a single day that my mother has not been by my side, encouraging, sharing, and helping me grow up.

23 years, such a long time, but I have never once said “I love you, Mom”. Moreover, there are many days in a year dedicated to Mom, March 8, October 20, Mom’s birthday and many other days, but with my shy nature and not daring to express my feelings, I have never directly given gifts or sent wishes to Mom.

Over the years, my mother was imprisoned to catch snails to earn money to make ends meet. She was attached to the fields, with her clothes always covered in dust and sweat, "selling her face to the ground, selling her back to the sky", that hard life also made my mother forget her birthday, which she never had a chance to celebrate. My mother often said: "Why bother with a birthday, I'm old".

That's right, Mom is old, her hair is almost all gray, and we still haven't done anything for her. Now I'm about to graduate, and I'm facing the pressure of work and social life, I don't know when I can repay Mom's kindness. So, if I had a wish, I'd like to organize a birthday party for Mom once, I hope this will be the best birthday surprise for Mom."

Phan Thi Hoai Trang, Deputy Head of Content, said that it was these very sincere confessions that made the program's organizers decide to choose to fulfill Phuc's wish for his mother. Knowing that Phuc's mother's birthday was May 28, the organizers contacted Phuc to create a surprise for his mother.

Traveling more than 20 km to Hamlet 6, Hung Linh, Hung Nguyen, the Organizing Committee members invited Phuc’s mother to Vinh city to attend the “farewell ceremony” with the class. When arriving and knowing that this was a birthday party that her daughter and her friends had given her, Mrs. Loan could not hold back her tears of emotion and happiness.

Present at her daughter's farewell night, the hard-working mother, who has worked hard all year round, once again sent her sincere thanks to the teachers who guided and educated her daughter, as well as to the friends who gave her the surprise, and wished all the students to study hard and succeed in life.
