130 passengers evacuated from plane in France
A British Airways plane was evacuated at a Paris airport today due to security concerns but was later allowed to take off.
A spokesman for the Paris Airports Group said the incident was "security-related" and forced staff to evacuate 130 passengers on flight BA303 to London, according to AFP.
"There was an incident that led to the decision to keep the plane on the ground and evacuate passengers a few minutes before take-off for further inspection," the spokesman said. The inspection of the plane at Charles de Gaulle airport was completed and the flight was allowed to take off at noon, four hours later.
Passenger James Anderson, 20, said those on board were informed by the pilot that an individual had made a direct threat to the plane, according to the Guardian.
"The safety and security of our customers and crew is always our top priority," British Airways said in a statement. "We would never operate a flight if it was not safe to do so."
Britain has raised its terror threat level to "critical" after a bombing on a London Underground train on September 15 injured about 30 people.
