The new, groundbreaking commitment of female writers

According to poet Nguyen Quang Thieu, despite facing difficulties, endless sorrows, even drowning great aspirations, in each page of books by female writers, there is always another world. That is the world that brings hope, opening large windows for the human soul. The President of the Writers' Association also affirmed that female authors have mentioned many thorny issues in society, have shown love for humanity, especially during the recent Covid-19 pandemic, many literary works have been born, truly reflecting the developments of life.

“Literature has the mission of healing the human soul. Female writers and poets have done a very good job of that role. With the nature of women being patient, tolerant, forgiving and kind, they have conveyed all of those virtues into their writings. There are female authors who have difficult circumstances, are single mothers, and have encountered many adversities, but they do not complain about their fate or criticize society. Their writings are still intact, beautiful, spreading positive things” - poet Nguyen Quang Thieu shared.

At the seminar, the participants listened to the presentations and shared their passions from female critics, writers and poets. Most of their shares, although approached from many different aspects, all showed the seriousness in literary work, the silent sacrifice and creative energy that are worthy of respect.

Critic Bui Viet Thang believes that female authors are the intoxicating liquor, spreading fragrance in social life thanks to the stories they tell and the issues they raise. Critic Bui Viet Thang also reviews prominent names who have contributed to creating the appearance of Vietnamese literature, from the "elders" in the literary world such as Nguyet Tu, Nguyen Thi Cam Thanh, Thanh Huong; veteran writers such as Bui Kim Anh, Lam Thi My Da, Tran Thi Truong, Le Minh Khue, Y Ban, Thuy Duong, Vo Thi Xuan Ha, to young people such as Nguyen Ngoc Tu, Di Li, Do Bich Thuy... According to critic Bui Viet Thang, female writers and poets have used their intelligence to create works that are both imbued with emotions and rich in ideological value. Mr. Bui Viet Thang affirmed: “Talking about “female-faced literature” is talking about the ability to harmonize the spirit and social ethics, the ability to humanize and tame human pain. Don’t think that women’s literature only needs to be soft and delicate. It is not difficult for us to recognize the sharp intelligence of female authors. There are “everyday stories in the district” that sparkle with a certain philosophy about life and about people.”

According to critic Do Anh Vu, with female literature and poetry, maternal love is always a matter of concern. Their works go into more specific and detailed issues than men's. Female writers put their thoughts and feelings into words, in which there are regrets, confidences and also life experiences... to pass on to their children. And their writings always leave warm feelings. Critic and theorist Vu Nho assessed that female writers have devoted themselves and contributed a very important role to the current work of literary and artistic criticism. He emphasized: "Creation can be based on natural talent and talent, but critical theory requires a long process of research, exploration and learning. Therefore, the land of critical theory used to see many male writers, but we have seen more and more extremely sharp female critics, including Nguyen Thi Minh Thai, Luu Khanh Tho, Chu Thi Thom...".

Sharing about female works, writer and critic Tran Thi Tram said that female literature has its own unique characteristics. Their works have differences in artistic perspectives and approaches to the world. They often write about very different points in love and life. For example, in poetry, they often write about loneliness and gentleness with verses that touch the hearts of readers. Female literature and poetry have contributed a lot to contemporary literature, however, to have top-notch works, female literature and poetry need to innovate and have a deep philosophy of life./.
