Hoang Mai town destroyed over 7 tons of pigs infected with African swine fever

(Baonghean.vn) - Test results showed that the sick and dead pigs in Quynh Di ward (Hoang Mai town) were positive for African swine fever. This is the second locality in the town where this disease has appeared.

On May 23, Hoang Mai Town destroyed the herd of pigs of Mr. Nguyen Van Trung's family, Quang Trung block, Quynh Di ward (Hoang Mai Town) with a quantity of up to 85 pigs, total weight of 7.2 tons.

Previously, on May 22, Mr. Trung's farm had sick and dead pigs. Mr. Trung reported it to the local authorities and veterinary agency.

On the same day, veterinary staff conducted an inspection and took samples. Test results showed that Mr. Trung’s pigs tested positive for African swine fever.

Hoang Mai Town issued Decision No. 635/QD-UBND dated May 23 on announcing African swine fever in Quang Trung block, Quynh Di ward. The threatened area includes Quynh Phuong ward, Mai Hung ward, Quynh Vinh commune.

The entire Hoang Mai town currently has over 20,000 pigs, including 5 farms and 36 households. In the face of the complicated developments of African swine fever, the town has raised the warning level to the highest level, requiring local livestock farmers to seriously implement disease prevention and control measures. Wards and communes have also increased the time and measures to disseminate information about the disease so that people are aware.

Quynh Di commune is the second locality in Hoang Mai town to have African swine fever. Previously, on May 7, Quynh Thien ward recorded the first outbreak of African swine fever in the town.
