(Baonghean.vn) - Today, the Vietnam U18 Men's Basketball Team began competing at the 11th Southeast Asian School Games in Indonesia. In the list of 12 athletes, the notable face is To Ngoc Khanh from Vinh city.

At the request of the Vietnam Student Sports Association and the Ministry of Education and Training, the Vietnam Basketball Federation (VBF) sent a representative, the Vietnam U18 men's basketball team, to attend the 11th ASEAN School Games, taking place in Semarang, Indonesia.

Vietnam U18 Basketball Team is led by Coach Kevin Yurkus (former Cantho Catfish Coach) and Assistant Coach To Quang Trung (former national team player, former Thang Long Warriors player).

The U18 Vietnam team consists of 12 players from provinces and cities in all three regions of the country such as Hanoi, Nghe An and Ho Chi Minh City. Among them, To Ngoc Khanh is the only name representing Nghe An basketball to be honored to be selected to focus on the U18 Vietnam team.

Born in 2002, with a height of 1m78 and a weight of 62kg, To Ngoc Khanh (11A1 student at Hermann Gmeiner Vinh High School) soon revealed his talent and passion for basketball. In his competitive history, Ngoc Khanh has had an impressive record in tournaments of the Nghe An Amateur Basketball Association.

Specifically, To Ngoc Khanh won the U16 tournament in 2017, the VBL tournament in 2017, and also won the Best Player award; Second prize in the High School tournament in 2018, First prize in the U16 tournament in 2018, and also won the Best Player award; Champion in the High School tournament in 2019, and also won the Best Player award, Third prize in the National Youth U19 tournament.

According to experts, in training sessions, To Ngoc Khanh has shown his ability very well and is improving every day to unify his playing style with his teammates.

Talking about his feelings about being selected for the first time, this young talent shared: "After receiving the news that I was selected for the U18 team, I felt very proud and honored because this was the first time I participated in a big tournament at the national team level. I really want to show myself in this tournament."

The ASEAN School Games is an annual sports event for students in Southeast Asia. Ten countries will participate in the games including Vietnam, Thailand, Malaysia, Myanmar, Cambodia, Brunei Darussalam, Laos, Philippines, Singapore and Indonesia.

The 11th Southeast Asian School Games took place from July 17 to July 25 in Semarang City, Central Java, Indonesia. This is the first time in 7 years that Vietnam has had a basketball representative compete at the Southeast Asian School Games.
