Driver hid 120 million VND that a passenger forgot in the car during a holiday
A holiday traveler left a bag containing 120 million VND in the car. Driver Liem hid it in the hotel room with the intention of stealing it.
On April 30, Vung Tau City Police initiated a case and prosecuted Mr. Vo Van Liem (60 years old, from Ho Chi Minh City) to investigate and clarify the act of illegal possession of property.
Three nights ago, Ms. Vu Thi Lan (29 years old, from Ninh Binh) rented a 16-seat tourist car driven by Mr. Liem to take her family on a holiday in Vung Tau City. When Ms. Lan's family members had checked in, Mr. Liem cleaned the car and found a bag containing 120 million VND.
He took 5 million dong and put it in his wallet, hid the rest in his pocket, then threw Lan’s handbag and papers into a trash can on the side of the road. The next day, the driver still opened the car so Lan could search for her handbag.
Summoned to the investigation agency, Mr. Liem denied it, but when checking the driver's room, the police discovered 115 million VND hidden behind the refrigerator.
Because of his age and less serious crime, this man was released on bail by his family.
