(Baonghean.vn) - After a short time of field survey, on January 31, Ms. Annie Le Goff - French and a volunteer group in Vinh City organized a Tet gift giving ceremony for the poor in Ngoc Lam commune, Thanh Chuong district.

On this occasion, the delegation presented 200 gifts, each consisting of 10 kg of rice and 1 banh chung to families in difficult circumstances in the area, in addition to blankets, milk and old clothes.

According to Tran Thuy Linh, a member of the volunteer group, Annie Le Goff (born in 1948) is the daughter of a French landlord who was born and raised in Hanoi during the war years. In 1955, she returned to France when she was a 7-year-old girl and more than half a century later (in 2010) she had the opportunity to return to Vietnam.

Annie Le Goff is a photographer for her family business. She has two grown children. Although she is not rich in material things, she has a kind heart and always thinks of the poor. When she came to Vietnam, she traveled to all the midland and mountainous provinces in the North to experience and learn about the lives of people in remote areas.

Faced with the difficulties and poverty of ethnic minorities in the mountainous areas, especially children (not enough warm clothes, no shoes to wear, lack of learning equipment...), every time she returned to France, she called on benefactors to join hands in donating material to send to Vietnam to help the poor.

Thuy Linh met Annie Le Goff during a charity event. Since then, the two have known each other, kept in touch through letters, Facebook, and coordinated on several charity trips. Annie Le Goff can speak Vietnamese and has a rich understanding of Vietnamese culture. Le Goff shared that what she likes most about Vietnam is the friendly people and beautiful natural scenery.

After many charity trips to the North, before the Lunar New Year, Ms. Annie Le Goff decided to return to Nghe An to do charity work and chose the resettlement area in Thanh Chuong to organize the program. It is known that this is the 9th year Ms. Annie Le Goff has done charity work in Vietnam.

On January 28, she and a volunteer group went to Ngoc Lam commune to survey the real life of people in the resettlement area. After realizing the hardship and deprivation of the local people, on January 31, she immediately launched her volunteer program.

She bought 2 tons of good rice, 200 banh chung cakes in Vinh city and some other materials to transport to Ngoc Lam commune to give directly to the people in the villages.
