The new Chairman of BIDV is from Nghe An.
(Baonghean.vn) - Mr. Phan Duc Tu was born in 1964, from Hoang Mai town, Nghe An province.
On November 15, the leaders of the State Bank of Vietnam awarded the decision to appoint Mr. Phan Duc Tu - Member of the Board of Directors, General Director of BIDV to hold the position of Chairman of the Board of Directors of BIDV.
Mr. Phan Duc Tu was born on December 22, 1964, originally from Quynh Thien ward, Hoang Mai town, Nghe An province, with educational qualifications of Master of Business Administration, Bachelor of Law and Bachelor of Banking Academy.
Previously, since 1987, he worked at BIDV in the following positions: Deputy Director/Director of BIDV Quang Ngai Branch, Director of BIDV Personnel Organization Department.
In addition, he is also Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors of Laos-Vietnam Joint Venture Bank, Member of the Board of Directors of Cambodia Investment and Development Company Limited (IDDC), Member of the Board of Directors and General Director of International Investment and Development Company Limited.
From December 1998 to February 2005, he held the position of Director of Quang Ngai Investment and Development Bank Branch.
March 2005 to May 2007: Director of Personnel Organization Department - Bank for Investment and Development of Vietnam, he also worked as Deputy General Director of Bank for Investment and Development of Vietnam from June 2007 to April 30, 2012.
Notably, from May 1, 2012 to present, he has held the position of Member of the Board of Directors and General Director of the Joint Stock Commercial Bank for Investment and Development of Vietnam.
With this appointment, the person in charge of BIDV's Executive Board will be BIDV Deputy General Director Le Ngoc Lam.
Thus, the "hot seat" at BIDV that was left vacant after 26 months has an owner. Since Mr. Tran Bac Ha retired in September 2016, BIDV has only had one person in charge of the board of directors, first Mr. Tran Anh Tuan and then Mr. Bui Quang Tien.
BIDV is the bank with the largest total assets and the highest State ownership. As of the end of the first quarter of 2018, BIDV's total assets reached more than 1.22 million billion VND, with State ownership of more than 95%.
In early spring of Mau Tuat 2018, at the meeting with investors in Nghe An, Mr. Phan Duc Tu - General Director of BIDV affirmed that over the past 10 years, BIDV has always accompanied enterprises in production, business, economic development in Nghe An and will continue to accompany Nghe An in the coming years.
