Tan Ky has 20 products recognized as 3-star OCOP

Tan Ky is a locality with many potentials and advantages to develop high-quality agricultural and handicraft products, such as: molasses, honey, mushrooms, oranges, grapefruits, poultry products... Therefore, when the province implemented the program "One commune, one product",Tan Kywidely deployed to the people.

Molasses is a strong product of Tan Ky, and has long been trusted by consumers for its quality. Therefore, when participating in the programOCOP, organizations and individuals in the district enthusiastically responded, continuing to affirm product quality.

Mr. Le Duc Thuyen - Chairman of Tan Huong Commune People's Committee said: Currently, the whole commune has about 30 households working in sugarcane molasses pressing, bringing in a total income of more than 3 billion VND each year. During the production process, Tan Huong commune has directed the establishment of a sugarcane molasses production cooperative, at the same time guiding people to produce according to the correct process, ensuring food hygiene and safety, supporting label design, clear traceability of origin... Thanks to that, in 2020, Tan Huong commune's sugarcane molasses products were recognized by the Nghe An Province OCOP Product Evaluation and Classification Council as meeting 3-star OCOP standards.

"Since the local molasses product achieved 3 OCOP stars at the provincial level, customers have trusted it, and at the end of the year, more molasses is consumed in the market, motivating people to boost production and increase income," Mr. Le Duc Thuyen shared.

To achieve the above results, the district has organized extensive propaganda about the purpose and significance of the OCOP program to the general public; created favorable conditions for organizations and individuals to expand production, strengthen linkages, increase productivity and product quality. Thereby, replicating effective production and business models in the locality; strictly controlling the work of ensuring food hygiene and safety and environmental protection in production and business.

Mr. Phan Van Giap - Chairman of Tan Ky District People's Committee said: After more than 4 years of implementing the program, up to now, the district has had 20 agricultural and handicraft products achieving 3-star OCOP at the provincial level. The movement of innovative start-ups in the agricultural and rural areas of the district has been promoted, a number of beautiful and good quality products from the OCOP program have been welcomed and trusted by markets inside and outside the province.

Through participation in the program, producers have improved their products to increase income and effectively implement the criteria group "Economy and production organization" in the National Criteria for new rural communes in Tan Ky district. The program has created favorable conditions for localities to affirm the brand of regionally typical products, helping producers feel secure in product consumption and have a stable source of income.
