Storm No. 3 (Storm Yagi) with very strong winds is moving into the mainland of our country, in which Nghe An is forecast to be affected by storm winds and heavy rain. Therefore, fishermen who are fishing at sea these days are rushing to move their boats to the mainland to avoid the storm in time. This is also the occasion when fishermen have spent many days fishing at sea, so the seafood output is quite high, many boat owners are making a profit.

Mr. Ho Nghiep, a fisherman in Tien Thuy commune (Quynh Luu), owner of fishing boat NA 95886 TS, excitedly said that after 12 days at sea, the boat received news of storm number 3 entering the East Sea. Therefore, the crew members supported each other to collect fishing gear and urgently move the boat back to the mainland.

Early morning of September 5, the ship arrived at Lach Quen Fishing Port (Quynh Luu) bringing back nearly 15 tons of various seafood, sold to traders for nearly 500 million VND. After deducting all expenses, there was a profit of about 150 million VND.

"This trip's seafood mainly includes mullet, needlefish and boiled squid... The mullet traders buy for 20,000 - 30,000 VND/kg, the boiled squid on the boat costs 130,000 VND/kg. After unloading all the seafood, the crew members focus on anchoring the boat in a safe location, carefully storing fishing gear, checking electrical equipment, machines... to prevent fire and explosion and to guard against strong storms causing damage. After the storm passes, they will continue to stay at sea," said Mr. Ho Nghiep.

Fisherman Ho Ba Doan in Quynh Nghia commune, owner of fishing boat NA 95989 TS, is equally excited because this fishing trip was a success.

"Our boat fished for 10 days, luckily caught a catch of nearly 15 tons of fish, sold it right at sea to a logistics ship; then returned to fish for another 3 days and received information about storm No. 3, so we had to move the boat back to the mainland. Thus, after a 13-day trip at sea, our boat caught over 20 tons of seafood, mainly anchovies, scads and some other species, worth 650 million VND. After deducting expenses, each crew member had a good income," fisherman Ho Ba Doan happily shared.

Observations showed that on the morning of September 5, at Lach Quen Fishing Port, there were dozens of large-capacity fishing boats returning from the sea. In the fishing port area, seafood in plastic trays was stacked by traders in long piles, chest-high. Next to them were refrigerated trucks waiting to be loaded onto the truck bed.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Hong, a seafood trader, said that the most valuable seafood at this time is boiled squid. The squid caught by fishermen is boiled right on the boat, then well preserved, ensuring quality, and is purchased at a high price, from 120,000 - 135,000 VND/kg. After being purchased, this type of squid is stored in freezing facilities to supply the market. In addition, there are also anchovies and ù fish, purchased at prices from 15,000 - 30,000 VND/kg.

Mr. Ho Anh Son - manager of Lach Quen Fishing Port said: To avoid storm No. 3, from the afternoon of September 4, fishermen have started moving fishing boats back to the port. After unloading all seafood, fishing boats will move to another place to anchor so that other boats can come in. It is expected that by the end of September 5, all 100 fishing boats registered to anchor at the port will return to avoid the storm.

Besides the high-yield vessels, there are also vessels that have been on the sea for 3-4 days and then had to return to avoid the storm, so they have not caught much. On average, a fishing vessel brings back 5-6 tons of seafood, so during this storm-avoiding trip, Lach Quen Fishing Port received 500-600 tons of seafood of all kinds.

Nghe An has 2,833 vehicles and 13,638 workers directly engaged in seafood fishing.

On the afternoon of September 4, the Chairman of the People's Committee of Nghe An province signed urgent dispatch No. 34 directing the urgent implementation of response to storm No. 3. Accordingly, for coastal areas, organize inspection, count, proactively inform, guide vehicles and boats (including fishing boats, transport ships, and tourist boats) still operating at sea to know, not to enter dangerous areas, to return to safe shelters; have measures to ensure safety for boats at anchorage areas.
